Carista App Now Avaliable For the 8V A3/S3 - PFL & FL Covered

With the Carista app I've enabled on my S4 -
Beep/chirp when locking
Oil temp & lap timer
& the rear parking lights as DRL's

The rear parking lights as DRL's is great for the dark winters we have in the Uk. Once the clocks move again in the spring i'll unable it & enable again in the winter
Not much use in Oz @WarwickL lol

PS On the B8 A4 you have a Launch Control counter. No doubt this will be added to the 8V customizations in due course

New version will be out early next week :)
Tried it out! Few things didn't work, but I've let them know so hopefully they can sort it

Some nice features on the beta!

This is what I got in the UK, but was 2 years ago and the exact listing is no longer available

https://www.amazonDOTcoDOTuk/gp/product/B006JJZVQE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Manually sort the .co.uk, forum was doing something clever with the amazon link but it wasn't working so had to post it like that

If I was buying now, I would probably be tempted to just get the real deal as @WarwickL says it has it's benefits to justify the cost a bit more

thanks , how much did you get that LYL one for?

Was about £6, but good to note that it didn't actually arrive with any of that lyl branding... That just seems to be a watermark on the photo

It's on the DIS - scroll down

Not on the MMI

I was getting an error message of it failing to make the change... I'll try again today and remember what exactly the error message said and report back.

Yeah as Warwick says it's probably the fact you had the engine running. Worked first time for me that one.

If, they manage to accomplish disable of start/stop engine in a software version update with no bugs. I will buy it in a heartbeat. It would be great to have the option on after starting the engine to push the start/stop button to enable start/stop not the other way around

Is this how it normally operates when disabled with VCDS? Or with VCDS is it a simple "permanently disabled, the button does nothing" scenario?

It would be perma disabled. What you are wanting seems to be a reversal of the S/S buttons operation.
Ah shame, thought as much. Was getting excited then thinking I'd maybe misunderstood the VDCS disabling outcome all along

That is what I want leave the decision up to me whether to enable on start up, otherwise always off.

Here is a reply from Todor @ Carista. to this question that I sent to Carista

No, from what we've found so far on the MQB platform (incl. 8V), it's not possible to reverse the behavior. It's possible to entirely disable the auto-start/stop system by increasing the minimum battery voltage or minimum ambient temperature for the feature... but then the system will just never shut off the engine on its own.

On the larger models like A4 (B8), A6 (C7), etc. it's possible to do what you want and the next official release of Carista will have that setting. It's even possible to invert the little LED and make it lit only when the system is on instead of when it's disabled. But alas, not on the A3.

-Todor @ Carista

He states it is "possible to disable the system" but does not say if that is available on the Carista app for the A3 series and that it would be glitch free.

Edit update: I just received this update.

We just released those settings in v3.3 of Carista today (for Android) and we plan to release them tomorrow for iOS. They're called "method A" and "method B" in the app and correspond to voltage and temperature, respectively.

No issues reported so far during our beta-testing.

Can someone explain their licensing model/in app purchases for IOS as there seems to be 3 different Pro options.

Has anyone tried on v 3.3 'Refuel quantity on Mdf' ? Does it work? Doesn't seem to work that one..

Just ordered the Carista adapter on Amazon. Seems like the best non VCDS solution out there. Can't wait to try it out. Just like some of you I have been looking for at way to either reverse the start / stop button or disable it permanently.

This is what makes me laugh a little about these "basic" ODB apps and kinda makes me think that for the most part they are googling for modifications which other people make public in order to add content. The above has been dotted around on the internet for a few years now on various A3 forums but will never work on an MQB / MLB platform Audis as it's a VW and Skoda only feature lol

Saying all this the app is actually not too bad for the simple things. I received my dongle 2 days ago, £17 from eBay, and purchased the iOS Pro subscription for testing. I like it but think the pricing is a little out of whack.

I tried a few things and work Alex. I had my dongle for Carista when I had my 8p. I didn't know that one of the refuel wasn't working..

Still for £15 I paid for carista back in 2015 not too bad although I didn't use it on my 8v until last week when they add it on their list for customizations.

Still up for the autolights when u come down south or u come up north ;)

Oh yer I have no doubt that a lot of the mods listed within the app work, its just when they are testing stuff like the "refuel" mod above it kinda gives the game away a little. For the simple stuffs it seems great. I tested with Seat Belt warning disable today and it was a lot faster doing it with Carista than with VCDS, VCP or ODIS.

Here when you are ready :)

Got mine today. really impressed. Worked perfectly. The link i posted about to the Amazon sale also includes a 1 month free trial. you have to go via iTunes and authorise it but then near the pay date you can just cancel it.

Has anyone activated Auto-headlights feature? i know i don't have them on mine but is it something that runs off the same sensor as the auto-lights?

Auto Headlights need a Rain Light and Humidity sensor to work.

What do you mean by auto lights?

I mean the automatic lights, when it gets dark they come on automatically, normal stuff. Just thought the Auto Headlights might be a separate sensor?it was when i had the Mokka. some had auto lights & wipers but not auto headlights as where separate systems. So as i have auto lights & wipers in the A3 & i have now activated auto headlights then my headlights should come on automatically when dark enough right?
