H&R Spring issue

Hi all,

Was hoping I would get round to posting a build thread on my car here in the Cayman Islands but unfortunately it looks like it will be a help request first.

I recently had some H&R sport springs fitted to my 2015 Audi S3. Since having them fitted there has been a knocking when turning the wheel at low speed either way.

The mechanic has said that the shock is too long (OEM) and that the spring is moving around because it isn't compressed enough. This was diagnosed after taking everything apart again a week later and greasing everything up. He suggested one fix as machining the shock which I'm not too keen on.

Has anybody else had this issue? I have seen a lot of 8Vs running these springs so unsure as to why it only appears to be me with this issue.

I only see one part number for the S3 H&R Sport Springs which is 50343 and that's what I received when I ordered from ECS. The car doesn't have mag ride.

We fall under the Central and South America market but I doubt the parts would vary from North America or Europe.

Mine makes a click noise when I turn left or right at a very slow speed aswell and has done for over a year now with no problems on H&R springs.

Sounds like it's probably the same thing then. The noise is quieter since the mechanic took everything back apart, greased everything up and put it back together.

I see the people that have fitted lowering springs on other cars sometimes get the same issue and remedy it with rubber tubing on the springs so I might try that.

To be honest I'm leaning towards just getting some Bilstein B8s, new front mounts and the rubber coil tubing then hoping for the best.

For anybody else interested. This was fixed by fitting some rubber hose around the top of the front coil springs. I believe Tein sell a silencer rubber product which does the same job if you don't want to make your own.
