Clickety click from door mirror

Noticed my offside door mirrors often clicks once as it begins to fold in, as if it's catching on something internally. Cursory check by dealer (not in my presence) was 'no fault found'. Not had the car from new, so no idea if it's been abused at some point, though externally car/mirror looks fine.

Does problem sound familiar? Sign of imminent/likely failure or one of those 'most of them do it' kind of things? The nearside mirror is fine, for what it's worth.

Mine sounds like Dracula opening his coffin - also takes a few seconds longer to fold compared to the passenger side.

Will be replacing it myself maybe this weekend.

Hmm. My clicking one is a tad slower than the non-clicking one. Car still under warranty, so question for me is if/how I can get it considered for a warranty claim before it expires. Seems (on this very straw poll) to be a bit endemic. If you're replacing yours, will you be able to investigate what causes it? Just wondering if simple (?) part disassembly & a little lubrication somewhere would be an easy fix?

Mines don't click, but they don't sound brilliant, I've heard quieter folding mirrors on a 10 year old Peugeot.

The issue with trying a warranty claim is that it still works and Audi may say it's a characteristic (usual excuse LoL) but certainly worth a try.

The powerfold motor is buried deep inside the mirror and requires quite a lot of stripping down to get to it - don't think it is available as a separate part like the glass adjuster motor is so easier to replace it as a unit. It comes minus glass and cap for £165 ish.

You need to take the door trim off yes but it's pretty straight forward I can post instructions and also a how to video when back at work tomorrow.
