After nearly 22500 miles my clutch is just starting to go. It's only slipping a bit when you are doing 70 ish mph in 5th or 6th gear and you put your foot down. It's still ok in that I left a new Civic type R rather unhappy tho. My abt warranty won't cover it and I don't think Audi will, what with the up rated intercooler on show so I've bought a Sachs organic clutch, dual mass fly wheel, release bearing and bolts. Lots of money but worth replacing everything while it's apart.

Yeah I ordered it from Awesome Gti it was just over £1200 with everything. It's worth replacing the lot. Mine will be 2 years old in January 17

Isn't your upgrade an abt unit.
Why not take it off and claim normal wear and tear?

Must be worth trying abt warranty thought that's one of the reasons we paid such a lot in the first place ,if you wanted to upgrade the clutch perhaps they would help with the cost.

I spoke to Rich at Richter Sport and he says that the clutch is just classified as a wear and tear item so it's not covered by the abt warranty. Typical

I was thinking that but I think if they spot the upgraded intercooler and stuff they are going to suspect something.

Yes suppose they don't know how hard were going to push the clutch, just a shame it's only just up to the job in the first place. Is it much of a job labour wise to replace?

I will let you know. I have spoken to my mechanics to let warn them. I think the clutch is at the back on the rear axle so it's not an engine out job.

That would be useful to know so I can start saving mines on about 13000 now ,would be interested to know how the new one feels in comparison when you've got it fitted

I will let you know, might wait and get xmas out the way first. I thought the clutch was at the back because of the quattro system.

I don't know why they even offered a warranty. A remap wold have been a 1/4 of the price.
Out of interest what does there warranty actually cover.

That's what I'm wondering Daniel. I am going to have to look at the Warranty. I'm assuming it just cover mechanical items like gearbox. Apparently clutch is a wear and tear item. I'm going to mail abt in Germany and tell them I'm not happy tho.

The gearbox is a moving part, so again what exactly do they cover coz it seems like they are just ripping people off with the cost of the box. That's absolute madness to be honest

I have emailed ABT in Germany. Hopefully they will reply. Yeah as I spoke to Richter Sport earlier in the year about clutch issues and them assuring me every thing was fine on ABT' s testing I think they need to sort something out

Have you got that in email or was it all verbal

Richter sport told me the warranty would cover anything up to 5000 that Audi would not cover due to the mods but who do you blame if the standard clutch is not up to the job even in standard car.could you try the insurance company direct?

If what they said is true, then they must surely have to cover it.

Hi Ian
Is that just a clutch or is there more.
No that's Sachs clutch and cover in two boxes,, dual mass flywheel, release bearing and slave cylinder plus eight new bolts in the 2 brown Audi Boxes. My mechanic and Awesome Gti recommended changing the lot while it's apart

Ok four boxes more exciting than one but more wrapping paper req,d if your putting them under the tree.

So I heard the Golf R has the same clutch as the GTI in the states according to this:

and it can take up to 400Hp. I'm guessing we have a different spec clutch probably a close relative to the Polo?
