Had the dreaded injector issue for a while. Sourced a full set with an "AG" suffix. Professionally installed and coded at the same time as a full service.

The car drives like a dream. So smooth, a massive improvement over before. The smoke is gone. It no longer spews out on start up or acceleration and I dont have a James Bond style smokescreen when idling in traffic anymore.

The big but though is that economy has dropped from 30 to 28 whilst maintaining driving style and journey type.

The only other change is that since the injector change it has been ran on Shell super duper diesel rather than its usual diet of supermarket fuel.

Any ideas?

N.B. All figures are manually calculated and are backed up by a drop in miles covered

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I do 500 miles a week and I've dropped 2mpg straightaway after the car being in the garage for less than a day

Are you taking the mpg figures off the trip meter or are you calculating mpg from fuel added? . The reason why you were getting all those plumes of white smoke is because of the diesel that was weeping out of the injectors. This diesel quantity was not measured by the ECU so it's calculation's would be incorrect.
Now you have put in injectors that don't leak, the mpg measured by the ECU will be more accurate. I suspect that you may actually be getting better mpg than before.

As per the first post, all figures are manually calculated and there has been a clear drop in mileage covered. I never use the duff information on the screen

No, "certified" as 45k on them. As said, car drives like a dream with them in, much smoother and the smoke is gone. Just the poor economy.
The only other thing I can bring in is that the car was mapped by the previous owner and I havr no providence for the quality of the map

I would be looking to see if you can get the remap removed, I get around 35-36 MPG and I also fitted a used set of injectors almost 2 years ago. Before the injectors were changed I was only getting around 30mpg

Unfortunately I don't know any tuners in the local area. Bit of a long shot but you could ask Teesside Audi how much to re-flash the ECU with the standard map.

B5, I think you put a link in somewhere listing the injectors released for the 3.0 engines. I wanted to try and find a set of the latest released injectors over the next few months to make that another job ticked off my list. Was the list done by yourself?
