I am looking to get 2012 A6 but I can't seem to decide which one to go for 2 litre or 3 litre. Personally I think 2 litre is bit too small for car of this size. What do you guys suggest and why?

Thanks

Coming from a 2.0 A3 I knew that the same power output in a car wieghing considerably more just wasn't going to cut it for me

So i ended up with the 3.0TDI 245bhp Quattro :)

I came from the 170PS A4 and in that car the 2.0 engine started to struggle when you loaded it up for a vacation... so in the A6 the 3.0 was a no brainer for me.

Big factor would be a gearbox as well! 2012 2.0 auto is multi vs s-tronic on 245 or tiptronic on 313. So, make sure you know what you're going for.
BTW 3.0 245 can easily match mpg figures of 2.0... and this was my exact choice. :)

The one I am considering is 245hp

I reckon 3.0 is better choice as I currently drive CC GT 170 and if mpg is same as 2.0 then why not

My 245 avant hasn't missed a bit since new (13 reg). You can push it past 50mpg if drive like a granny and yet I managed 157 MPH on Autobahn... :D
Fully laden (4 people plus all you need for a month worth of hols) it still shifts as a daemon. We did cross continent several times.
Just make sure all servicing was done in time (e.g. s-tronic oil @ 38k etc.) and preferably regular oil changes every 10k (rather than a long-life malarkey).

I've got the 218PS 3.0 in my allroad and it is pretty good, would have liked the 245PS but this one was a demo model when I bought it had 3000miles on the clock and being sold for 33K. Speced it at the time and it would have been 51K so it made sense (and the wife fell in love with it... decision made haha)

Good luck getting 2.0 levels of economy....

Over 12,000 miles I'm averaging 35mpg over a tank

On a run the car will easily crack 45mpg+ but it plummets when driving in and around town

I went for the 2.0 litre Ultra as i'm tight and the tax is only £30 a year.

Check for any clunkiness between 1st / 2nd and into reverse. Make sure the gearbox has been serviced on time (every 38k)

Listen out for a rattle between idle and 1500rpm; it could indicate that the chain tensionr needs replacing along with the chains.....that's an engine out job!

Other than that; enjoy!!

I went today and swapped my 2011 vw cc 170GT with this

2012 Audi A6 3.0 S line Quattro (245ps). 51 k on clock with FASH. 80 miles returned journey was very good as sun was out. I don't feel the extra 75ps compared to my CC.

Overall very happy with my purchase.

The 3.0 is a very different drive from the 2.0. The speedo tells you just how quick they really are

Add another 40bhp / 100lbs ft torque on top and its a completely different drive again :)

Also it's not a 75bhp difference you have coming from the CC ;)

I came from a 3.0D BMW and can say I'm happy with the 2.0TDI Ultra model in comparison to the BMW's higher power output. When I want more power I'll get an RS6 for the weekend! :)

My A4 had the 170 2.0 TDI and I can definitely feel the difference between that and my A6 3.0TDi

RS6 is in different league, no comparison between it and any TDI IMO

Maybe because my CC was stage 1 remapped I don't feel much difference but overall very happy with my purchase.

Just had it for like 4 days and already had first mod in to do list. I would like to change gearshift from this

To this

It looks like dsg gear stick and IMO it looks way better than current gear stick.

The facelift gear stick can be fitted but you need to heat up the internal lever in the metal base of the gear stalk and twist it 90 degrees for it to fit. Can be done, many have done it, but at the risk of snapping the plastic.

Seems bit complicated procedure. You got part number for new one??

Last night I decided to do the navigation update

20161221 214604

After like 3 hours I managed to get it sorted

Had one error which took ages to clear through vcds though but finally I did it

Alright, been to the dealer where I bought the vehicle from and they checked and confirmed it's GPS aerial which needs changing to sort out my MMI navigation problem. They said they'll order it and get it painted (as they came primed) but it will be in two weeks time due to christmas and new year holidays.

Fingers crossed, replacing GPS aerial will solve the issue.

Faulty GPS aerial is a common fault on the C7 model.
Yeah I read about it. It's all over Internet. I did told the dealer but he insisted to bring the car down. Had to do 160 miles round trip but they are paying fuel costs as well so happy days

Was playing with VCDS and activated rear lights along with fron DRL. Also turned off headlights when DRL is running. I think they look way better than before.

Thinking about treating myself early birthday present,

Personalized number plate

where to look for one and how does it work

DVLA is probably your best best if you google search it I'm sure you'll find it I bought mine through another company though about 18 years ago was a lot off waiting for paperwork to come through to be sent back to dvla waiting for them to reply with authorisation to place on car etc, but now it's done all electronic so once you've paid you can put your plate on in an instant no waiting that's on the dvla site don't know about the others

Once you have the certificate (which should be provided with the plate) you go on to the gov.uk site and type in your details along with the certificate number and it's processed instantly, allowing you to put your plates on straight away :)
