@45bvtc does that mean the engineering side is letting X down one weekend and then the other deliberately? It's amazing what they can do with modern technology.

Hamilton will win in Austin. It's like his home GP.

It is very strange. No other engine failures from Merc enginened cars on the grid apart from Hamiltons, and he's now had 6!!! Is there something fishy about the German owned team???

But Paddy Lowe said at Suzuka that not all of the Mercedes engines are the same and that the modifications applied at Suzuka were ONLY to the Mercedes team cars. I do wish they'd come clean and be honest about it all... I mean, if you were Mercedes, why would you give everyone else the same power unit; bet they're now wishing they'd given them to Red Bull for this season as at least they'd have 'some' control.

"Mercedes eyes works entry in Formula E" says today's Autocar; the cars with be push-button and clutch-less; I wonder who they might have in mind...

Be good to see Rosberg have a DNF in Mexico, just to keep it interesting. :)

Stuff interesting......I hope he does so HAMMER Time comes into full effect.

I can see Merc creating an interesting end to the season.
Also, last 3 races with the current car and regs. 2017 will be all new.
Seemingly Rosberg had to take a long time to recover after the 2017 test a week or so ago. Gs have increased significantly.

Great to hear Sebastian is human over the radio! Several times today he made me laugh out loud.

Loved the comment at the end about the message to give to Charlie!

I think he was slightly annoyed

The Championship is just going thru the motions though,
Lewis can win every race and it changes the out come of the 2016 Drivers Championship by Zero, without something unusual happening then it is still Rosberg`s.

You never know, Mad Max may launch up the inside in Brazil and knock Rosberg out. He has the nerve to do it. That would leave a last race shoot out. Go Max.

This year is a joke you have 6-8 Merc engines on other cars and Lewis's car bets all the problems....surly that can't be right unlike something or someone wants it that way.

With help is the only way Nico will beat Lewis, yes he has 1 or 2 bad starts which he put his hands up to but the rest is u explained.

Lewis was never going to win this year and now they have Nico in a nice place it okay for them to go racing now

Sebastian Vettel has been demoted from third to fifth in the Mexican GP after being handed a 10-second penalty for his collision with Daniel Ricciardo.
Ricciardo is promoted to the final podium position with Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen moving into fourth

And this, folks, is why people are turning away from F1. In the heat of some actual racing there was some supreme driving by both men to avoid a real crash, and Vettel gets a 10 second penalty for it? Senna will be turning in his grave..

Worth it if only we could see Vettels face when he heard!

If the loss of these places is all that happens to Vettel after this race he may think himself lucky going forward. The stewards have a hard job to do and I wouldn't want to do it. If F1 driving standards deteiorated into what happens in some of the lower formulas with people weaving under braking and causing cars to fly that would cause outrage.
With large speed differentials when people are going for a move and the closeness of the cars the chance for one car to ride up over another and flying is quite high. Apart from the safety concerns it's also not very fair that a very much quicker car could be held up by somebody much slower.
I am surprised the Stewards haven't gone down the road of applying penalties based on Vettels outbursts in the car. I honestly believe if Verstappen and Vettel had been come together and had got out of the car Vettel would have been putting one on Verstappen.
All the language and telling Charlie Whiting to f off was OTT and he had obviously lost it big time.
I like to see close racing and good overtaking action and as Martin Brundle said there was a great amount of skill shown in getting so close and touching without actually binning it.

I see where you are coming from, but the lower formula have always had that element in their racing. This probably is more of an example as to why Verstappen (talented or not) may have needed an extra year or two in the lower formula to get this element out of his racing. Yes, Senna used to do similar and is now considered a legend but at the time many thought he was a dirty cheat!

OK so Vettel is seemingly showing more and more signs of frustration. When Hamilton had some similar outbursts about his team there was a lot of backlash, yet Vettel seems to have gotten away with it. Yes it was funny at the time to hear it, but that does show as not being as professional as he should be. Slating everyone who was in his way all weekend.

So bring back the radio ban, add gravel on the outside of ALL corners, increase kerb height and make 'em more aggressive, and ALL to ensure no driver again can completely avoid the first two corners and carry on and win a 200-mile Grand Prix; and ban Blue flags if only for the sake of also-ran teams, why ruin their race just to see a Mercedes drive by.

Hamilton to win at all costs and/or whatever - you can sure see it coming.

It sure is more of a circus these days, Bernie...

Can I add, had Verstappen given that third place to Vettel after missing the corner to gain an advantage, Ricciardo wouldn't have had a chance to tangle with Vettel in my opinion. Vettel got stuffed by the Redbulls, twice! Lol

Congrats to Nico on winning the 2016 Drivers Championship also...

This is what's going to happen, Lewis qualify in pole, Nico 2nd, Max third. On the race start, Lewis will ace it and make a clean get away, Nico fluffs it a little, allowing Max to be side by side into the first corner... You can guess the rest! :D

Well looking at the weather it's probably playing into the hands of Hamilton. He beat Massa to the 2008 championship aided by the rain In the last few laps. Maybe it will help him this weekend as Rosberg isn't as good in challenging conditions.
They are forecasting showers all over the weekend. If Rosberg wins in the wet and beats Hamilton in a straight race I think he deserves the title.

Great quote from Kevin Magnussen talking about Renault and the reason he chose to leave.Really made me laugh.

"It was more the failing of commitment from Renault's side. If they had committed to a longer contract I would probably have looked at that much more seriously.
"But it was more the feeling of them not really committing, taking so long and offering the drive to so many drivers – I think at one point the Pope had an offer!

Red flag!!

Lewis fans wanted rain, but so far this is playing into Nico hands.

We need more racing :)

Verstappen single-handedly trying to dry out the track. He was on absolute fire!

I was close with my prediction! lol

Really wanted the race to be another 5-10 laps longer in the end! Max slicing through the field was the high light!

Shows you how mince Rosberg really is. Max gains 20+ seconds on the last restart and Rosberg loses 30+ over the last two restarts!
He'll never be the complete driver and will be the dullest WC ever, that's if his bottle doesn't crash in the desert. Come on Lewis.

I voted for Max for driver of the day just after he made that save. Very nice to see all the teams come out for Massa.
If I had been the strategist for Red Bull I wouldn't have pitted him when they did. He had a comfortable second place 2.5 seconds in front of Rosberg. I think he could have held that place and if Rosberg pitted and changed tyres to get an undercut, Verstappen had it in him to get past Rosberg again even if the undercut worked.
Lucky nobody was seriously injured. I wonder if Nasr will get the drive with Sauber next year after potentially getting them 30 odd million dollars.

That was drive of the year from Max, the level of skill he's shown this race is unquestionable.

I think max saved the Brazilian GP from a post-mortem of red flags and safety cars.

Would have been interesting to see if Max had it in him to have a go at Lewis?

After all the safety cars and red flags, Merc still finishes 1&2 Thank god for highlights because I wouldn't stand watching it live.

Had it in him? I don't think there would have been a second of doubt in his mind. Whether he would have had success...??

His determination and commitment to get ahead of Perez was amajonaysing...

With all the stoppages it was always going to be easier for Hamilton though, as he never had to get into the spray (apart from the safety car).

Yes it was a long race, lots of waiting and indecisive management....

But is that F1`s fault or your short attention span ?
People love Cricket, that fecker goes on for a week . . . and then you may not even get a winner,
F1 aint too shabby in comparison my friend.

To be fair, though, yesterday's race was elongated to Hell due to the number of safety cars and waiting for restarts. At one point I was going to switch off as I thought they would just call it off. Luckily I did not!

But we found out so much gossip in the down time, got to see drivers in random garages and interacting in ways we dont normally see,
I agree some of the delays could have been shortened, but I thought Martin, David and Ted did a great job of filling in the blanks,

And the racing was some of the best you will see.
