A few times now I've started up the car but when selecting mapping on the virtual cockpit a black screen is displayed.

CarPlay also doesn't appear on the menu with my iPhone cable connected and myaudi destinations aren't there.

The next day I start the car it all works fine again. Any idea what is causing this? Is it something I'm doing?

I did get that following screen suggesting something isn't right.

Any ideas?

I've got the tech pack with 3 years Audi connect services FYI

Looks like there's no internet connection

I have had a similar experience with CarPlay I found that if I closed all the open apps on my phone it sorted it.

Has been better on the latest iOS version.

Thanks, will give that a go and see if it fixes it.

I've struggled with the Carplay problem since day 1. Still happens from time to time that suddenly the MMI stops seeing the phone as Carplay (android auto) compatibile. The only thing that helps then is hard reset of the whole navi (combination of 3 buttons). Other solution is waiting for the next day ;)

That seems a little confusing to me, as you mention two different products. First you talk of Carplay (which is Apple based) then mention Android Auto compatible? They are two different systems and isolated software stacks within the MMI. Which one is it you are using?

If Android - I have often found 'new' Android tech to be buggy and it takes a while for them to be ironed out unfortunately. How good is your phone manufacturer at staying current with Android releases? Or do you have a Nexus device which is kept up to date? It might even be introp issues if you are using a device which is not "Google Experience" / native Android. I ran into issues with a Moto 360 in that regard.

The issue is with both systems. When for example Carplay crashes - the Android Auto device is not detected anymore as well, nor any other Carplay device. Only solution is a hard-reset of the MMI - then it all starts to work again.

Oh so you have an Android phone, and iPhone connected to the MMI at the same time?
I guess Audi would not have put too many cycles into testing that as it's not a typical use case?

Can you have them both running at the same time? I would have thought not...

You can have them both plugged in, but only one can be active on the "smartphone interface" checkbox at any given time.
