I have a tango red S3 and am going to get my calipers painted but I'm not sure which colour to go for. Would red be too much red? I've only really seen yellow and blue on Porsches and BMW's respectively. What do you guys think? And if you have pics of a red car with yellow or blue calipers that would be great ;-)

I prefer red Allan despite your car already being red.
Not sure blue or yellow would go with it (?).
I intend doing mine red when the car arrives (Navarra Blue) and also the wifes (Brilliant Black) rather than pay the extortionate amount Audi wanted.

I'm tempted to get mine painted navarra blue, and put on some white "S3" decals.

Although I quite like this is gotta be red, yellow signifies CCB brakes on Porsche and the blue is obviously the M sport :-

Do each one a different colour to mess with peoples OCD!!!. :grinning:

BTW I like the yellow if we're being serious.

I like the red but I think Satin black has a bit more understated class. :)

Ignore the gold wheels

Apart from the gold wheels and the ridiculously low suspension, I'm not actually so sure about yellow as an option now. That pic has been the decider I think. Stick with red...

I'm not sure if my own OCD would cope ;-) Maybe one side in yellow and the other in red. Then at least it would always look reasonable from any single angle, unless mirrors were involved!

Your car looks fab the way it is mate :)
But if you really have/want to then red. Any other colour would look well dodgy!

Mazda 6 MPS. I used to have one. It's meant to be a seriously understated, almost stealth like AWD super saloon... I don't think the current owner has quite understood its raison d'être though.

Black with subtle logos is nice, red if you must. Anything else just looks like you're trying to hard to be a 17 year old kroozer.

Yellow and red compromise?
Caliper red yellow mockup
Or pink would set your red off nicely once its been left in the sun for a while to fade... :)

I would paint mine gun metal grey, and then add a dry brush technique of different shades of brown to simulate rust.

I get inspiration from what's currently rolling off the production line i.e. what colour are they on the new R8?

Mine came with the standard black calipers ( wasn't going to pay that ridiculous money for factory red) but what I did do was paint the carriers gold. Looks good against the black calipers and Misano bodywork.

Whatever colour you choose, be sure not to paint operation critical areas such as flexible seals, hydraulic couplings, piston faces, and of course swept areas and friction facings:

@Audi Bairn or @paradigital did you ever get yours done? Or DIY them?

As I'm looking at DIYing my factory painted black ones to either red or blue but want to know how difficult or easy it will be.

Reason I ask is that most cars (older) do not have painted calipers at all, so you're painting onto bare metal... whereas I believe the S3 has them painted from the factory, they're just painted black rather than anything fancy... so obviously paint onto paint will be different from paint onto metal

Thanks!
