Just purchased my RS4 B7... Supercharger Conversion build thread.

Thanks sandra, its nice when you see some positive results, especially after the slagging these cars get. Its good to show one doing what it should be

Hi Craig how could you fall out of love with the B7 RS4.
Mine ran 394 at MRC the other day with Revo stage 2, i presume another CC is req,d.
What do the spacers do.

I didnt fall out of love with it really, i just got the itch to go back to the tfsi, once i got it on the strip, i realised the V8 was me. I need to move forward with the V8 and do my thing. Its just not going to happen fast. The spacers disperse heat away from the inlet manifold, reducing inlet temps, creating more torque in the mid range and high rpm's. The beauty is the more you give it, the better it responds :)

Hi Craig

Nice thread and glad to hear the car has regained your love again.

Keep meaning to find the time to get up to see you about doing my bonnet. It's still on the "to do" list but been mega busy.

Off for my stage 2 next week so the bonnet will follow shortly after.

Will be in touch

It's never ending mate. Just had to do the oil cooler lines as they were knackered. Went for the JHM ones so hopefully won't have to worry again!!!

Every time I think Im getting there something else pops up lol. Bonnet is definitely next on the list after the stage 2 though and I will be definitely coming up to see you about it

Great thread mate and lovely motor. Keen to see it progress, it seems you're a petrolhead at heart and therefore you will keep tinkering which means exciting updates :friendly wink:

I assume the spacers are a material that doesn't pass heat easily and therefore stops heatsoak to the inlet from the head? Reducing AIT's?

Can anyone explain the theory of the term "pulling timing" as I've seen it a few times now but don't understand..?

Sounds good mate, if it makes you feel any better, i have a customer who boight one for £14k and the poor lad just gets bill after bill after bill. He spent £2500 with me replacing all the drc with coilovers, both uprights, 4 bottom arms and wheel bearings. Before that he needed a clutch and dmf, now it needs an oil cooler and thats before we get stuck in with the decoke etc. Youve got to admire his patience as most would give up at the first hurdle. But all i can say is it gets better. The more boxes you tick the closer you are to a good car. Once theyre right, they dont take much maintaining. Mines up for sale and i dont even know why lol

Thanks mate, the RS4 has alot of safety features that step in if things arent quite right, in return retarding the timing to a degree that will reduce power and limit performance for the safty of the engine.
Causes for this can be vacuum leaks causing the inlet manifold flaps not to respond properly and the power flap in the airbox not to work at all. Both of these things play a big part in how the ecu responds. The power flap in the airbox and the inlet manifold flaps all open around the same time the 5000 rpm kick occurs (advanced timing) but if one or all of the above isnt working properly, the sensors will pick this up and in return wont allow the ecu to advance the timing, so in return it ******* the timing for safety. The air flow is crutial with an na v8 as it could run rich of fuel which you dont want, or the opositw is it could run lean, either way the ecu wont stand for it and just pulls the timing. (A good thing really)

The spacers are made out of a material that doesnt transfer heat from the head to the inlet manifold (or atleast not as much heat) in return you can feel the difference in heat transfered to the inlet by touching it after a good drive. Without the spacers its just too hot to touch after a blast, with the spacers its still hot, but not too hot to touch. This reducing Aits and making the engine less prone to heat soak. Ive found in the recent hot weather the car responds so much better.

Hi mate how you getting on with your Supercharger kit? I am looking to pick up an Audi RS4 B7 Avant soon and will be looking at getting it supercharged.

What other things did you need e.g. clutch etc?

Thanks in advance,

Trev

Its gone to an older chap who loves his performance cars mate so its gone to a good home. That was as important to me as the getting the right money tbh.
Yes business is going ok, we could always do with more work but hopefully as our reputation grows so will the work load.

Thank you, only 6 weeks to go and mini me is here :)

To the OP, its a shame you never got to complete the SC as reading this thread i would have been keen to see how it turned. We kinda on the same path that how i found your thread. Anyways best of luck with the S3, awesome cars IMO.

It would have been nice but i couldnt warrant another 15k + spend. I weighed it up for months and just decided against it. If i do go back to an RS4 now it will be a B9. For now loving the S3 and also not having to have all the petrol stations pre programmed into the satnav lol. But its coming back to me for servicing etc so best of both worlds
