After agonising over which model to choose between a Q3 or an A4 ive placed an order for the A4.I know that the Q3 is nearing its final stages before a completely new model is lunched in around 12 months time. Therefore i felt it a better choice to stick with Audis latest .......
I also chose petrol over diesel as i consider the adblue an additional pain i can do without. If you factor in the additional oil consumption, adblue, heavier tyre ware etc of the diesel along with less refinement the petrol made more sense for my needs.
Suspension is standard sports. After contacting many dealers regarding adaptive systems, not one said it was an option that many even considered... .....despite the journalists banging on about it.The comfort set up just didnt look right and the car sat too high for my liking, even though comfort would have been my first choice.
Model wise the difference between the model versions is marked...in that the sline looks so much more attractive,so it was my choice hence the fact the standard ride height of comfort suspension would have completely ruined the look of the car.
Colour...after viewing many my choice was floret silver.A beautiful smokey, darker silver with a hint of mauve in certain light ,it needs to be seen in person,as a standard "silver" metallic looks nothing like it.
Spec is just enough to add to the luxury feel of the car .Metallic, heated seats, extended colour led light package, privacy glass and high beam assist.
Oh yes and the 7 speed stronic box which (at the moment until tax bands change in April next year) is £30 per year against the manuals £110....
Just about to start following its assembly journey on the web site...build commences Oct.....

A4, good choice. I've gone for adaptive comfort myself. Height wise this sits in between normal and sport suspension.

I think iirc that the new tax bands only apply to cars registered on and after 1st April or something. Might be wrong though.
Cars registered before retain the older costs.

I've had a floret silver 2 litre petrol (190 PS) s line for just a week. I'm still in the euphoric stage, but I don't think you'll be disappointed. I've had A3s before and the A4 is definitely a step-up in ride quality, even with sport suspension. One thing that attracted me to the A4 is the impressive spec in s line trim. I didn't want any of the technology or driver assist options and all I needed to meet my driving needs were the folding mirrors so that I could have the passenger mirror dip facility for parallel parking. Mine was a stock car and had privacy glass as well, but those are my only optional extras.

I chose s tronic after years as a confirmed manual gearbox fan. I haven't regretted it so far and the s tronic is so smooth. Most contributors to the Audi-sport forum say they would never go back to manual after having s tronic, but we'll see how I feel long term.

I hope you'll enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine. It's a big financial outlay, but I'm retired and I have the time to really enjoy mine.

Having driven a Q3 I can assure you the A4 is much greater in terms of refinement, quality, road manners and ambience. the new Q3 won't be out until late next year but who'd put a plasticy manual folding screen in a car that can cost upwards of £40k?

I forgot to add ,i have also ticked the model/engine designation rear badge delete option.......
I must say ,actually it was a close call between the two as my father took delivery of a new high spec Q3 1.4 stronic se recently with the nappa leather grade.I liked it very much, however i had intended ordering early next year but the looming replacement was just to close.
I of course agree fully with your comments above, and actually the standard spec of the A4 even in matched versions (se ,sport s-line) is much better than the Q3.
Perhaps ill consider the next generation Q3 in the future...
I must say the A4 is extremely striking in its Floret silver with the privacy glass....also Floret silver looks good in all lighting conditions unlike some colours....
I kept the standard elegant, yet sporty 18 inch wheel design.Perhaps the darker diamond cut 18 inch option a tad boy racer looking?

Sounds like your car is in the same batch as mine - as I also went to assembly today!

My dealer provisionally told me November 4th as a collection date, if that helps you any!

Yeah mine has too - however it's a future date of tomorrow for QA according to the underlying data.

I've not arranged anything with my dealer yet - expect I will call them when it's shipped, unless they beat me to to it!
After the excitement of the build, the shipping/delivery is going to be the long agonising part!
