Quick question - I've got the chance to choose between Android or Windows for my new work phone. What would you suggest integrates best with the Tech Pack Advanced on a FL S3 (particularly for emails, texts, calls).

Sorry if this is the wrong thread but figured you guys and girls would know best given the car model?

Wow, thanks for the advice and so quick too - Android it is then. Luckily my personal phone is an Apple so good news all round ..... :racer:

If your work gives you the choice between an Android phone or a Windows phone you should change job! lol
That's having to choose between a dog **** and a ... smellier dog ****!

At least the pain will be less at the wheel of your S3 mate ;-) but I feel for you!

Any sympathy gratefully received ..... for the phone that is - none required for the car

Yeah, nothing better than a phone full of useless apps that let you share crap with other idiots ;)

I'll stick with my Lumia 950 for work, and my iPhone 6S for personal.

Android is still a disjointed, flawed, insecure, fractured and inconsistent pile of an operating system.

Not a fan then ? lol

Would have liked to stay with Windows (even bought a Lumia 950), but have been forced to go Android because of the lack of app development for Windows, and the non-compatibility of so many mobile websites.

For the record, I don't use social media :)

Update: Android on order - don't even ask what the choice was ...you won't be impressed...and I'm embarrassed to tell....but at least it'll get my emails and I can make calls on it........a move up from my Blackberry at least

All joking aside its not bad phone. It's called the BlackBerry Priv. Next time you are in Carphone Warehouse have a look at it and you'll be surprised.

I have (and really like) my Android Samsung phone. I have just got my car and had a play with Android Auto and successfully used google maps to navigate - works great.

However, my mate also has a FL a3 and the Apple version looks better!

Why people would buy some Android **** phone is beyond me... You buy an Audi and you somehow stare every waking moment of your life at this second class phone... honestly why?

No choice for work unfortunately so big loss of brownie points for that one ....

I have (and really hate) my Android Samsung phone.

Honestly, it drives me mad with its endless foibles. It's like trying to wire a plug with a knife and fork. A lot harder than it would be if you just used the right (i)tool for the job in the first place.

I am not aware of finding foibles with Android. Simple to use for me.

Now iTunes and it's foibles - don't get me started

Android is not a second class system, to me at least.

Haha, I am staring at a second class post now....
The joke is all the 'other' ones and their obsession of being 'holeless'.

"Any Apple products" Ok I see it goes beyond iPhone... So in your case you've decided for whatever reason and that's your prerogative that you don't want Apple products.
In my case I don't want anything that comes from Google, Samsung or other followers... plus many other reasons (working in IT) that would be pointless to discuss here. Enough litterature out there.

Lol. Doesn't make my post any less valid whether you like it or not.
I'm certainly not saying the iPhone is perfect (far from it) but Android phones are even less perfect and let's be honest without the iPhone and iOS Android would be the poor citizen (second class) to Blackberry because Google would just have copied the Blackberry OS instead...

Android pre post iphone

But sure you're free to enjoy your Android phone providing you can still upgrade the software after 12 months and it doesn't catch fire in the meantime that is! ;-)

Why?

For my purposes, it has little to do with the aesthetics or the fanboi clamour for every new model. I like them because they just work.

They're intuitive, they get on with the job, and I never feel the urge to throw it against a wall. The same goes for my iPad and my Apple TV. I bought my parents the same kit, because even old age technological Luddites such as them can get the very best out of them. It's easy, low stress computing. No fuss, no bother. How it should be.

Compare that to my windows PC's that seem to have a hissy fit and need rebooting every couple of days, or a complete reinstall action of the OS annually. Or my entire series of Samsung android phones, which I rely upon daily for work and have to resist the urge to stamp on because they're so ****** irritating. If I only used the android system in isolation I'd probably be fine, but I'm reminded daily of its lack of proper development since I use both systems extensively. Even the most simple functions of making a call, redialling a number, or even saving a contacts details on them is laborious and irritating. 'Tap twice to unlock screen" during a call is a particular favourite. It's annoying and unnecessary because someone hasn't coded the software properly and recognised that the user is in charge, and doesn't want to **** about double clicking this, or swiping that. He just wants it to work. Navigating menus is appalling in comparison, and the touch screen implementation is like comparing a child's xylophone with a Steinway Grand. The android version is just appalling. Ever tried dialling the emergency services in a slight bit of drizzle or snow? I have, and my shiny new Samsung just wouldnt respond to my trying to dial 999. It was hopeless. The iPhone?

It just worked...
