Alright was looking for advice as it stands my car has a 3 inch down pipe milteck exhaust intercooler 5inch badger induction forge dump valve and stage one revo remap .I am going to get the stage two remap and was told that it would achieve 270 ish .I would like to get to 325 bhp what can I do .I am up for putting on a bigger turbo but don't know what one .I don't want to have to start doing engine internals so any help would be appreciated.thought the car was fast but lots of unmodified cars are running of the production line with upwards of 300 standard by that I mean pretty run of the mill motors thanks

Not stupid al all mate, better ask and find out from people with experience instead of it ending in tears.
Rods anything more than stage 1 really.
Some tuners cap at 300lbft torque to attempt to save rods so use that as a guide line

Do rods
Seriously
Why go spending any money to have it capped
And forget 325 its a crappy figure

im not the best person to give anyone turbo advice as I'm no expert only know bits from what I've picked up on here but if all you want is around 325 bhp then going gt route is a lot of extra work like custom down pipe and turbo oil lines and such where as with the hybrid you pretty much got what you need apart from injectors, fuel pump, and exhaust manifold which you'll need to do if you go gt route anyway but defo do the rods

Alright mate thanks for advice I am going to have a word with Falkland tuning when they do the re map see what they say just want to be able to keep up with the big boys in their m3 or Scoobies!!!!!!

Than you will need more than 325 going Garrett turbo you can aim for anywhere from 400-600bhp but all depends on how much you want to spend and how deep your pockets are on what turbo you go for but engine internals above stage 2 is a must really
Have a look at tufftys, gops, goubo's build threads they all running big power turbos they will leave most things on road

Seriously.
How much do you have to spend. Dont be shy
Ill sort this right now

Alright penny dropped today the only thing I can get done is a stage 2revo remap.spoke to guy at Falkland tuning he was talking 6kto8k for 400bhp upwards .said the guy that owned the car before me had basically done everything possible.only thing left was internals and turbo .I have a couple of grand to spend but apparently that won't buy much what do you think

Right. Full spec of car. Leave nothing out. Also id recommend badger 5 on here
Hes been a bit lippy lately cuz he is grumpy but he is a fantastic tuner. Only my 2p worth

3inch decay straight through exhaust milteck back box front intercooler ram air induction badger 5 80mm intake forge dump valve revo stage I remap

Ok based on your spec and budget.

Fmic
3 inch decat and turbo back system
Badger5 tip( intake)
Jetex air filter (mixed views on rams)
Wmi
Chinafold plus porting
If the turbo comes off in process port match it with the manifold.
Things need to flow nicely.
Make sure all popeworks smooth on your cooler and not too large 63mm ideal.

Dont go revo either its gay
Custom tune it
Safer
And revo can be spikey if you have no rods.

To be honest this is simple for you and cheap.
If you think you are going to keep the car do rods.
Rifle drilled
And you can go hybrid later on.
Again a fairly cheap upgrade and hybrid is wherw it starts getting fun imo

I live up in Dundee do you know where I can go to get this done?I have just spoke to a guy with a s4bi turbo 1999 he wants just shy of 5k for it I have offered him 2k and my car and he seems keen so I have a dilemma.
The car appears to be sound but don't they all .

Surely torque is the limiting factor on a stock engine, not horsepower.
If you were conservative and limited the car to 280lbft, that's still about 320hp at 6k rpm.

Yes torque is definately more relevant factor here.
But there is no "safe" number thats the problem.
Some people have bent rods on standard power i believe
Certainly people have on stage 1.

Why spend any money on these mods to hold power back.

If you only have a couple of grand to spend on it I would change the exhaust manifold, and port the turbo and manifold to match.
I'd check the FMIC is up to the job.
And id go and get a custom remap from somewhere reputable.

That's about the best thing you could do with the money.

Anything more involves new turbos and engine rebuilds which is as you've been quoted, £6k+ minimum.

For the OP, rods is the best idea, as even a spikey stage 1 map could destroy your engine and throw a leg out of led. (rod exits through side of block. Much disaster and pain)

Badger5 can do the rods for you, circa £1500 drive in drive out service. He can also suppy you with a Hybrid turbo package for circa £1500 too.

Do what I did, buy parts every month, chuck em under your bed. Worth doing it all in one hit, get the rods in, rebuild with new turbo and exhaust manifold. Run it in, drive to see the nice man in Gloucster and let him do what he does best.

Or horde parts, take them to said man in Gloucester. Let him meticulously build it, pick up S3 with job all done.

Check my "its turning into a track car" thread, documents all my mods etc and its the power your aiming for.

Thanks for all your advice I am leaning towards the s4 on eBay it has been remapped has intercooler had the haldex service on coil overs for 2k plus my car I think it's a good deal again if anyone has advice it would be appreciated the s4 is the black 2004 one for£4995 on eBay

I thought the s4 didn't have haldex?
It says it does.it is a Quattro and I presume that it is the same as any audi .I haven't much knowledge about the ins and outs of them.it looks like a lovely motor .I was surprised it was a 2004 b5 shape I had an Audi 2.0l 2003 and that was a b6 guess they made the s4 for another year or two

S4 is torsion (permanent) quattro not haldex quattro... it does not have a haldex coupling

Thanks for that means the guy that is selling it ain't got a clue what he is on about .he has on the add that the haldex service and the gearbox have been done at a cost of 1k.he probably is the same as me I would have presumed that the four wheel drive systems would be the same when I spoke to him he said that he had an s3.the add is classified does that mean he is trade

Has he receipts for the work done?
He doesn't mention receipts in his add.i only spoke to him very briefly he was away to jump on a plane to Dubai he is a back on the 20th so I guess I will have to have a proper speak with him find out exactly whats what.i hate buying cars just wish people would be straight up.i ain't rich far from it and the thought of travelling down south t OK find the car is not what he says would be a pisser .I was hoping someone out there might have known the car bit of a long shot I know

Try asking in the b5 section slight chance it could be a forum members old car and people over there could give U a heads up on the common faults to look out for with the s4

Had a look at your thread mate ENVY! Your Motor is the business.how long has it taken you?my problem is I have no patience and my 19year old has even less.want to go faster now! Just started getting in to fast cars used to be into big cruisers but once I got a blast of my s3 I was smitten.first turbo'd car I have driven when you feel the boost their isnt much of a better feeling just can't believe how quickly I have got used to the the pull .want more !!!

Cheers mate I will give that a go.funny only been on this forum for a wee while and I feel like I am cheating on it speaking about a s4 !

For reference, my car made 324 bhp and 305 lb/ft on the Badger5 dyno recently.

Its an early W plate car with a small port, narrowband APY engine with all the "normal" mods (see details in my signature).
It's not the ideal spec and is maxed out in its present spec, but still good fun.....
