Hi all,

The car is a 1.4COD A3 and was bought November 2014

The oil light has just come on.... its done 10.6k miles (not many first year but much more recently)

Just phoned garage and they want £356 for the service... is this excessive?

Is this right?

Cheers

wow £356 for a service! I paid £206 for my S3's first oil service.

When you say oil light has come on...that means you are low on oil! Check your levels as if it's too low you may seize the engine!

Can you post a pic of what you see?

Im not at home to check but if I remember correctly it was:-

"oil change in 27days" with spanner icon

Actually, if you have only done 10K miles in nearly 2 years, it should have had a service last year and again this year. So you could say you have saved money!!
Up to 10K miles per annum it should be on fixed schedule.

just following what the car told us :) so £356 is okay for the service? do I need to change service type?

So is this £356 just for an oil change? I have the 1.4 COD and went to an independent for the first service and paid £125 inc.

Lots of good advice about the goodwill, warranty, price match and differing dealer prices on various threads here, it all depends on what you think is important to you among all of that.

Personally, I am confident that by using OEM parts at the trusted indy I can maintain the 5 year Audi warranty I have, but accept that I may have a good will issue if it should come to it. I also think that my local dealer is not that good with its servicing but yours may be different!

Ahh that's OK then, I just thought you meant the oil warning light came on. I was told year 1 and 2 is just the oil service, year 3 is the bigger service...I do 8000 per year.

Why not just get a quote from your local independent, and then get your Audi dealer to 'price match, which Audi Portsmouth did for me, and the Longlife oil and inspection service cost me £108.44 for my 1.4 COD, but that is with me supplying the oil.

Is that £108.44 including the oil. If so I think it's a pretty good deal from an Audi dealer.
And was the independant OK with supplying a written quote? I heard on here that it's not something they like to do, because they know what you'll do with it.

I supplied the oil, and the independent supplied me with a written quote by email, which Audi accepted.

So, how much was the oil? I am on the £399 for three years deal, so didn't pay for my service. But I got the paperwork from the dealer that said it would have been £180.

Think I paid about £40 for 5 litre Shell Helix Ultra oil.

Maybe of interest for anyone in South Wales, I've just paid £145 odd for first year's service at Bridgend Audi ( Sinclair) for my 1.4 saloon.

That seems almost reasonable for a main dealer.
