Adaptive Comfort Suspension

Hi All,

I have been following this forum for some time but have now decided to make my first post.

I have a B9, S-Line Quattro 1.9 S-Tronic Saloon I ordered it with adaptive comfort suspension but you can feel the pot holes, and it does bang as it goes over them. It doesn’t seem to matter what I have drive select in either, also it does seem noisy inside you can hear the grids you drive over and you can hear people talking outside maybe the door seals are not that good.

Just wondering if I am alone and if so it may be a trip back to Audi.

No experience myself but I gather some sound needs to enter to keep you aware of your surroundings and unless you want a 150K car, then pot holes will always make themselves heard. I was looking at the A4 earlier in the year as a replacement for the S3 before deciding against but the suspension options boggled me a little. Supposedly the adaptive was better and more comfortable but it's also lower than the standard setup.

I've only briefly test driven an a4 avant with sports suspension and it was very smooth and quiet. Didn't try it over any particularly bumpy roads but it felt better than my A3 on comfort (SE) suspension.

As for the noise - depends what kind of grids you mean? Cattle grids would certainly be loud in any car!

I have sports adaptive on my 272 s line ,pot hole is a pot hole unless you have a bigger diameter wheel tyre comb that bridges the hole or non low profile tyres there won't be much difference .
Try avoiding them if you can ,being a motorcyclist i tend to keep off all lumps and bumps as well as drain covers.
I know this sounds a bit patronising but saying avoid them ,still the best way .

I did however run through a 'trench 'coming out of forton services on the M6 other night and thought I had ripped both front wheels off the car

How do you find the comfort setting on the adaptive sport suspension? I'm considering this option but the dealer was a bit dismissive of it

I have adaptive sports suspension and I find Comfort very good but a bit uninspiring on windy roads which is when I swap to Dynamic which is firm but by no means uncomfortable. Both are a country mile better than the B8 Sline.

I find I spend most time in auto to be honest, but same as "hmy7k" says put it in dynamic for faster driving in twisties
Having come from SQ5 it's not as firm as that was but overall ride comfort is much better on the A4 which is what I wanted when I swapped.
Car looks better sat on sports suspensions as it sits lower
I have wrote elsewhere on here about suspension.

Thank you both. I haven't yet found any demonstrators with this option so I would be buying blind if i choose it.

Have you checked your tyre pressures? Mine was delivered 50% over the standard setting which made the ride a bit firm...

There is also a comfort type pressure a few PSI down on standard which improves it further, albeit with a small impact on handling.

Exactly what I found too. I was worried that I might be willing myself to find it better than my A3 SE suspension.
