How many miles have you got out a full tank? Planning on going from Glasgow to Newcastle then back to Glasgow over the weekend will cover about 350 miles all in. Would I get this out a full tank?

270? 55 litres is 12 gallons? 22.5 MPG?

I just whinced a little, I'll take extra care running it in hehe

Long term average for me is 31.3mpg so 380 mile range from my 55 litres, based on nearly 9000 miles motoring, I don't drive slow by any stretch of the imagination but do a lot of motorway miles with average speed cameras and M25 motorway crawl

I got from Chester to Perth (Scotland) 285 mile sitting at 70+ all the way, still had some left when I pulled in to get another tank full.

That's not bad, when I had my 64plate C220d AMG line I went from Buxton to Drumndrocht on a 1/4 (£15-£20) of a tank.....but it was boring except for a little play just before Fort William. Time for something entirely different!

I've got close to 400 on purely motorway taking it easy but I normally get 280 and close to 200 in manual when I'm having fun

Is 380 what the car reported as the overall range, or was that your calculation?

I just filled up the TT TDI this morning and the range showed 560 miles. I drove 25 miles to work and it still showed 560 miles. I think I might just never look at the range or mpg values when the S3 arrives! :D

Is both, calculated from trip 2 and I usually get a figure between 365- 380 to empty when I fill up, was surprised how well they aligned when I checked this afternoon. Have let mine run to 0 or 5 to empty and only managed to squeeze 52 to 53 litres so still a good 15- 20 miles in the tank

Ergo...... the downside of owning a 297 bhp....Audi....S3 for a good few months.....you'll be lucky to get 23 mpg...very lucky.....

Interesting that its the same as my S5, despite the difference in engines. First 3k miles I tracked with an app always said 22MPG (90% motorways). Overall average on the trip was about 24MPG, so not too far off.

Guess power/weight is near identical though...?

Lot of testosterone in here I think. On a long motorway run you should easily manage mid 30's mpg.

Have you driven from Glasgow to noocasle and back...l have in a 63 plate fiesta diesel.used 3/4 of tank of derv...average of 56mpg and it never goes underneath that number.. S3 will nook that, even with a larger10 litre fuel tank.... Soon as you get the M74 your fuel consumption is going to crash as it's B roads from then on in to noocasle lol

What's the best range you've had pburv? I would have thought a Radio 2 listener would have got better values than those!?:haha: :friends:

Depends which show you listen to...:whistle2:
As for range I haven't really worked it out.I only do 9 miles to and from work every day and have a bit of fun at the weekends..:superman:

Steve Wright in the afternoon? :D

The car should tell you the range on one of the screens? I'm guessing 26mph is average speed, which is pretty low so explains the 25.6mpg average. Quite right on the weekend fun!

Definitely going to be a culture shock, away from a car that over the last 39,000 miles I've averaged 55MPG, and on a decent jaunt from the North West to Devon I'd get 70MPG. Yes, the 2.0TDIe 136PS A4 is dog-slow, but it's very frugal!

Looks like I'll be back to similar to what I achieved in my remapped 2003 Leon Cupra R (265BHP) back in the day! Having said that, I used to manage just a shade under 40MPG on a long run in that, though I did see a single-figure average when having fun :p

Ken Bruce ain't bad to be honest...lol
Average 26mph is likely due to the 40mph speed limit 99% of my commute:sadlike:
But at 6.30 am???????

S3 and worried about economy......that's a misnomer if ever I've heard one! A long run is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the benefits of such a machine. Just find a Shell garage mid-way and replenish the v-power and goose the nuts off it......enjoy!

That might explain your 26 long term average compared to mine. Unlikely to get above 26 on that type of commute. My daily commute is 10 miles each way with 9 miles on dual carriageway and I never get above 28-29, my long term gets over 31 as I have done around 5000 motorway miles out of 9000

My A3 2.0 TDI averaged about 52 and was no slouch but it never made me smile ever time I got in and turned the key in the ignition ...enjoy the S3 and sod the economy

Amateurs, I've had over 40 on a run from Cheshire to Coventry. The 50mph average speed check sections are mostly responsible tho ;)

I get between 360-380 per tank thanks to my new motorway commute to work. Long term average shows 34mpg in the 8k miles I have owned it.

Not sure if my DTUK box is helping with the mpg when driving normal.... It certainly doesn't when I put my foot down!
