Hi all my name is Paul I'me new to the forum and just got a new SQ5 it has the 20 inch wheels with Michelin tyres , what sort of mileage should I be expecting to get out of a set of tyres aprox ? Also what do you find you get avarage mpg? Having had bmws for years I have to say the Audi is far superior in finish and quality I was looking at an x3 35d but was very disappointed with the finish it was a very tacky silver trim , poor quality leather and bad stitching on the seats and very uncomftable . When I sat in the Audi I was very impressed so comftable , when I drove it , we'll just had to buy it !!! Enough said I think

Firstly welcome to the forum. It's a great place for advice and discussions and if you can get along to Audis in the Park at Billings on 13 and 14 August it is a wonderful event. I'll be there with my SQ5 on the forums pitch on the Sunday. As for tyre wear - mine runs on 21" wheels and I replaced them (all 4 as recommended with a quattro) at 15,000 miles. Still tread and legal at the rear but like racing slicks at the front! Fuel consumption is amazing for such a beast of an engine. I regularly see between 35 and 40mpg on a motorway run and no I don't drive like a pensioner. I've owned mine for 15 months now after moving to it from a S3 and love it. Enjoy your new purchase.
P.s. There is another forum for Q5 owners available too.

Thanks for your comments both tyre and fuel consumption if I get near yours I will be highly delighted , only done 150 miles at the moment , unfortunately I won't be able to make the Audi meeting as I have prior arrangements also I live in Cornwall , if there is anything nearer to me I would do my best to attend . Like you say it's an awesome vehicle very impressed with it I've always had Bmw m5 and 3ltr touring 5 series but the Audi is far better car , puts a smile on your face every time you get in it

Hears a few

Enjoy. Cracking looking car. Still think the Q5 is the most in proportion Q car in the range.

Thanks yes I quite agree it's an amazing car I've always had big engined cars but I think this is the best car I've ever had and I've had a lot of cars !!! The m5 I had was a real beauty but this I think is a much better and more practical car

Sorry to bring this one back from the dead

On average doing half motorway and half town, how many miles would a full tank deliver on an SQ5?

normal driving

Somewhat dependent on the model these days - the older TDI version or the new TFSI engine?

I have the petrol version and using the efficiency mode I have seen 40 mpg on motorway runs, but average around 36mpg, whereas in town I'm probably around 20 mpg. Long term average is hovering around 30 mpg after 7,800 miles.

I think, when i have just filled up, mine says over 450 mile tank range, but this varies depending on your recent driving style too.

.............mine is doing around 30mpg. Filled up on thursday & just done a 300 mile round trip, with around 95 miles left in the tank according to the gauge. Mostly motorway this journey but i generally get around 30mpg 18 plate on 21" alloys.

So around 350 miles before hitting the full indicator

We have decided instead to go for the Q5 instead of the SQ5 :)

Which one? Diesel or Petrol?

After 15 years with BMW Diesels, I was starting to find the 6 cylinder 63 plate X3 xDrive 30d MSport that I had for 4 years was getting too uncomfortable on the old bones, so I decided to move to a 67 plate Audi Q5 S line 2.0 TFSI that was only 8 months old. It was an ex Bentley dealership management vehicle with only 3,900 miles on the clock. Within 30 minutes of driving it, I was convinced it was the correct one and have never looked back.

The fuel consumption average (using fuelly.com) is more or less the same as my previous X3 at around 36 mpg. The inside is more plush, and overall all it is more comfortable and just as quick at just over 6 seconds from 0 to 60 mph.

My tank range always shows approximately 515 miles. I use it on long runs only, preferring to use my wife's little Suzuki Celerio (62 mpg) for shopping and around town work.

We went for the TDi version

What I noticed in the test drive was the mileage left on the screen was stating 335 and the Q5 had just under half a tank of Diesel left, they could have obviously reset that counter at any stage of course, which would blow my theory lol

Our A7 on a full tank of Diesel was giving us around 540

Q5 below which we get on Tuesday, it’s a great looking colour in Suzuka Grey
