As title, i'd be interested to hear how the owners of the the B9 TFSI's are getting on with their cars this far in.

I'm enjoying mine. Quiet and quick. Suits the S tronic

The only problem I have is the pre-sense has kicked in a couple of times why it should not have, but that is not the engine...

lol over engineered then. My real question (Which I should of made more clear) is views on the TFSI stronic with FWD.
Or even with a manual gearbox, apologies for hijacking your thread but I am interested in the 2.0lt fsi engine as well...
Yes, I have had a short test drive in a 2.0l petrol stronic avant in last half term. It was very smooth, refined and quiet and had a williness to rev, but it could be driven quite lazily, a bit like a more powerful version of my 1.4 really. But as I stated, I am more interested in a manual but dealers just don't seem to get them in, rare beasts indeed...
Sorry to be a bit thick but are we talking about the 252 TFSI as I'm looking at getting one but finding one for a test drive is impossible?

Good point, he did say views of the 2.0l tfsi with fwd so I assumed it was the 190ps front wheel drive as the 252 only comes with quattro?
That's the one i'm after,252 TFSI quattro, audi UK have two press cars but I'v been on the waiting list for over a month and no sign of one yet!!

I gave up trying to get a test drive of a tfsi when I was looking as there were no demos anywhere in the UK at the time. Hope you manage to get one.
I had a B8 tfsi before and I loved the engine. Plenty of power. Even though the B9 tfsi is down on power over the previous B8 model (190 as opposed to the previous 211), the new B9 is alot lighter so I can imagine it being a great drive!

Unfortunately not, I probably now do not need to drive one until nearer Jan. But thanks for the heads up, good work!!!
I too would be interested to hear how people are finding the 2.0 tfsi because that's the engine I'm interested in. From the research I've conducted, there are plenty of 2.0 tdi's in the country as that is expected to be the most popular model in the UK. I've been getting quotes on carwow and I'm being told delivery times of 3 months for a factory order with the engine I want.
I believe the 2.0 tfsi is a new engine, in which case we don't need to worry about the excessive oil consumption that plagued earlier versions of the 2 litre unit, but I'd be grateful if anybody could confirm my understanding.

I know the OP was about the 190 FWD but as some have asked about the 252 I'll add my thoughts on that. I've just had my first long trip in mine (4 hours on the motorways). It's an easy drive with that engine. It cruises nicely but if you need to over take the acceleration is almost instant. When you look down at the speedo it's surprising how fast you are going.
As an aside the adaptive cruise is a joy to use on a long journey. I don't know why it isn't standard on a car like this.

The new 2.0 TFSI is a brilliant engine. Proper refined, quite, and smooth. I've done 5000 miles in mine and have not used any oil.
For those who are interested and have patience, there is a Audi service manual for the new engine but it's in Russian and will require you to copy and past the text using google translate.
It's the first blue link under where it says (Engines). It has 2.0 TFSI ea888 in title.

I'm also trying to convince myself that I need an A4. I love my A3 sportback, but I occasionally need greater load space and my wife would like us to have a bigger car for the better ride. On one level I like the idea of a bigger car and I like the standard spec on the A4; in s line trim I probably wouldn't want any extras as it has everything I want. I've also had some very tempting quotes on carwow. On another level, I'm concerned about manoeuvring a bigger car around town as I do a fair bit of town driving. The A3 is easy to park and will fit all spaces. An A4 Avant looks a lot bigger and some car park spaces are less than generous.

As I have stated before, yes the a4 saloon is longer but compared to my present car it is only 200mm, other cars in the same class are larger. I have driven those cars, and bigger ones, and I can assure you there is no difficulty in fitting them into spaces or parking bays. Its something you just used to in the end.

Thanks cuke. Many years ago I owned a Vauxhall Carlton estate which was a big car and I don't remember any particular difficulties manoeuvring it. In fact it was one of the most enjoyable cars I've ever owned. However, it didn't cost the equivalent of £30,000 so perhaps I wasn't so fussed about damaging it. Even then I don't remember any minor dents or scrapes during the 5 years I owned it.

Yup, 3 litres of straight six loveliness, smooth auto gearbox, digital dashboard and adjustable dampers. One of vauxhall's best kept secrets..
The B9 is quite abit bigger and wider than the B8, and around the same size as the A6. I've found that mine completely fills parking bays. On the white line both sides while my previous B8 still had some space between the lines.
The b8 was 4703mm in length according to what I have seen, against 4726mm for the b9. The width of the b8 is 1826mm against 1842mm for the b9.
The difference in the wheelbase being 2808mm on the b8 and 2820mm on the b9. The front track of the b8 is 1564mm against 1572mm, the rear track being 1551mm and 1555mm.
If my figures are incorrect then it will be the ones for the b8 as I'm getting the b9's from the audi brochure.

Both the B8 and B9 A4 are a reasonable amount smaller than the A6 (figures here for the B9 Avant):
Length: A4 4726, A6 4943 - 22cm difference
Width (body alone/with mirrors): A4 1842/2022, A6 1874/2086 - 3cm / 6cm difference
Height: A4 1434, A6 1461 - 3cm difference
Main difference is the length, but when you consider the other measurements as well it adds up and I can say that while the A4 goes in my garage there's no way based on that the A6 would (and in fact I tried an A6 courtesy car in there once and gave up halfway, I wouldn't have been able to open the doors...).
Back slightly more on topic, my B7 was fine in my garage, but the B9 is a bit tight - it's certainly a good plan to measure up before you buy! Got some foam strips on the way from Amazon to pad the wall by the drivers door just in case...

Cardboard attached to the inside of the garage walls is also a good idea. I am about to remove some screening bushes from my driveway as I'm fed up with the doors on my A3 hitting them. Fortunately, being bushes, the doors tend not to get damaged however when I parked a loan a4 avant in the same place there was little difference. I guess car doors are probably all made to a, sort of standard size, for a 4/5 door, for parking bay reasons..
Still agonising about whether to upgrade to an A4 Avant. Today I read a review about the 2.0 tfsi 190 PS that concerned me a little. The reviewer said that over the test period they had managed only 35 mpg over 300 miles of mainly motorway driving. I understood it was more economical than that and indeed the poster above reports better economy than that. Does anybody else have fuel consumption experience for this engine to report please? The official figures never bear much relation to reality.
I was getting that in my B8 2.0tfsi 211 but it seems that the B9 owners with the newer 2.0tfsi 190 are getting abit better than that.
It will be much better than that, testers are not the best of drivers and I doubt whether the average mpg was even reset...

Thanks f1nny, those figures are really useful. I think it's time to open a dialogue with my dealer. I suspect the first issue will be in finding a 2.0 tfsi to test drive, not that I am expecting the power unit to be anything but excellent! I also want to take some internal measurements to make sure it will accommodate the cr@p I cart around from time to time.
