What have you done today?

What noise did it make?
It was like a high-pitched whine - It was so loud that you could hear it at idle over the noise of the engine.
When you felt the black bearing cover (carefully!!) when it was running, you could feel the bearing grumbling.
£18.50 and 15 mins effort sorted it. If only everything was so easy!

Its starting to look a lot like Christmas

Interested to know this as well...

*edit* ninja'd
It was like a sort of hollow sounding shriek - High pitched.
Bill sprayed a load of belt lube stuff on it and it still didn't go away.
Interestingly, there wasn't any play on the pulley wheel when I took it off.
I hope that helps!

Whoop got an MOT today a couple of advisories corroded rear dampers, but I am changing the rear shocks this summer anyway.

The brake test on an S3 is errrmm interesting.

...as its AWD they shouldn't be testing on brake roller... they have to be tested on the road or using a plate brake tester

Used to work in an MOT bay and Tuftty is bang on. as a kid i used to love when an Evo or Scoob would come in as you knew you were going out.

The one we had was the non digital type though think it was called a Tapley Meter?

Did a few bits today with help from S3 Hilife (Legend), new Tip, new FMIC, and cleaned the injectors. Runs and Sounds 100x better.

Do you need to modify the bumper with the airtec intercooler? Thinking about buying it myself, just don't want to sacrifice the foglights :)

Some minor trimming is required to the lip below the fog grills and the lower inner fog light bracket but nothing thats visible

Good question lol, all I can tell you is the dimentions given are 680w x 340h x 60mm, I've been using one on mine for a while now and it works well tbh, not sure how it will cope when the BT goes on though

Emptied another S3 part from my garage when JayA3 came to collect the BNIP front lower grille surround that I originally bought from Fran-S3 but never fitted. Nice to catch up with someone from the AS.net forum again.

I see you're cutting your ties with anything S3 related Paul!

Yes mate, just a little
It's hard to see in this pic but it's just the small bits at the edges of the cooler

What size piping is this using??

It's 60mm mate, the pipework is supplied with the kit which connects from the cooler to the upper hose and map pipe in the engine bay

Got a link for the kit? only other option I've seen is the AH Fabs V2 and id like to know if there's anything can match it

Still keeping an eye in with you lot. Might put in an appearance at AITP for a free burger, depending on the weather etc...

That TT-RS is still nagging in my ear...

Buy Hoses - Check

Buy Clips - Check

Now to wait for AH Fabs to get back to me to see if i can get my FMIC sent to me before I Go to Bill's on the 2nd

Changed mine during a recent cam belt change (fiddly job). The old one you could spin the tensioner and it would go for ages and sound horrible. With all new tensioners and rollers it's so quiet. Just the damn injectors and carbon canister valve ticking away.

quad tail/brake lights

thats an idea thats been brewing in my head quite a while, i want relocate the brakes to the top and leave the tail lights at the bottom, but then i always wondered where to relocate the rear fog light to, even considered getting a central rear fog from a mk2 tt but it just didnt fit well with the overall aesthetics of the 8l

I've got that sorted too ;)

just need to find time to made up a mounting bracket. it's going to be an exterior mount though

After 12 months of sitting outside the underneath was looking tatty so gave subframe and bottom arms a quick coat :)
