Enabling TPMS for A3 S3 8V *Experimental*

I think your last numbers of the coding may be 208805 and you have to have your car Engine running to use this function

Good luck

Edit: wait wait did those errors with the code 308805 dissappear after running the engine again? Do you still have the time pressure menu in the mmi with the 308805 code?

The menus for the mmi all appeared regardless of the fault codes but the options were grayed out. With the engine running part, I normally turn the ignition once to start the electrics. Should I be leaving the engine running when I set the codes? I.E. Turn engine fully on and begin coding?

Also with the 308805, the fault in my dash kept on appearing where as if I tried 208805 I didn't get the error on my DIS.

Then they might have changed something but it seems unusual as mine is also a 2013 sportback
your option to go should then be 208805.
Anyways im sorry but i cant help any more, im sure somebody has another idea to try.

Hi,

I have a 2013 Sportback with all the assistance extras (except TPMS) and my long coding is:

12F18AA220250A70017A060101C9294851045080608094F2F879500805

I noticed the two numbers I need to change (highlighted in bold) are 0 for all the other posts on here but mine are 5 & 0. Should I be adding to these numbers or just simply changing them to 3 & 8 ?

I have issues with mine, I had it activated but it never appeared to work because the MMI menu shows TPMS.. But won't let me open it, it says unavailable.

But now today I had a flat and surprise surprise it flagged up, which was pretty cool!! But now I have a problem, I can't access the menu to reset it :-( I am going to try and master reset the MMI and hope for the best.

But, does anyone have any idea why it might just not be opening the menu? Very thankful for any help please!! The car is going into Audi a week tomorrow and it can't go in with the light on, because if it does and they try to reset it they will realise I've messed with it haha. My programming guy isn't playing ball :-(

You only have 29 Bytes within your ABS module so it might not be possible:
  • 5F - Information Elect
  • Adaptations
  • (56) vehicle_menu-operation-menu_display_rdk = Activated
  • (13) vehicle_function list BAP; extension-tite_pressure_system_0x07 = Activated
  • 17 - Instruments
  • Long Coding
  • Byte 4
  • Bit 0 = Enable
  • 03 - ABS Brakes
  • Coding
  • 12F162A220280A6D017D060301C4294846045080608094F2027900348508

*Note: The 08 on the end of this coding = Byte 30.
  1. Disconnect VCDS
  2. Reset MMI
  3. Turn Off Ignition
  4. Start Engine and leave for 1 min before turning off the engine again.
  5. Turn ignition to 1st position.
  6. Test by going to the MMI Service Menu.

thank you for your response djalix do I add the 30 byte without problem after ? thank you in advance

If I was performing the coding myself I would probably test in the following order:
  1. Change bytes 28 and 29. If accepted then test as per steps 1 to 6 above.
  2. If 1 is not accepted then I would try adding byte 30, while making sure that soft reset is ticked.
  3. If 2 is accepted then I would then change bytes 28 and 29 and then test as per 1 to 6 above.
If none of this works then your ABS module will need updating or possibly changing. Just out of interest can you post up the details of your ABS module?

is there a risk of breaking the abs with bad coding ?

There is always a risk of causing issues.

If you can run an autoscan and post up all the details for 03 - ABS I can see more of what might be possible before you make any changes.

Diego, look at this ;)

When you turn on the ignition, you should see the TPMS light briefly turn on. The system needs at least 1 hour of driving including on the highway to adapt. During that time the TPMS may not be reliable.

Hi
Caveat - Work in Progress - *Experimental ONLY*

Proceed at your own risk.

But feel free to try this out on yours, and post your results in this thread!

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

As there is not much info about how to code TPMS onto a A3 S3 8V, I spent about 3 hours yesterday sitting in the car with the laptop.

After some initial help from Ross-Tech support, they provided me with a Long Code to replace my long code in the ABS module, to see if this would activate TPMS.

Top line is the original Long Code from the factory
Bottom line is what Ross-Tech suggested I try

View attachment 32686

This seemed to work, and briefly lit the "flat tyre with !" symbol in the instrument pack. So I assume TPMS is enabled in the ABS module. It also illuminated when you ignition on, and then extinguishes.

However - I still had to find our how to enable the functions (storing pressure etc.) in the MMI, and maybe code the DIS. So I had a poke around......

I ensured all the following adaptations were set to "active" or already "active" in the 5F module:

Zl9KmlY.jpg

DBsaLr7.jpg

wy1SNeC.jpg

TbfMj6d.jpg

And also Byte 4 Bit 0 in 17 Instruments was ticked

J34j3AB.jpg

This then gave the TMPS menu in the MMI

NkiZJMq.jpg

gtjQ1FC.jpg

Next steps:

1. Figuring out which Bytes and Bits tick box do you have to tick, to get TPMS enabled in the 03 ABS module? (instead of copying and pasting a long code)

2. Do u actually need to enable Byte 4 Bit 0 on the 17 Instruments module? I'm guessing there might be a message in the DIS when the TPMS alarms, but I don't know. - Anyone with factory fitted TPMS help here? Have you had a warning message in the DIS?

3. Haven't yet figured out which measuring blocks show that the module is learning values.

4. Haven't tried deflating a tyre and driving yet to test if the system actually works (still learning values) - anyone want to try this?

Progress !!
Hi veeeight, trying to get tpms working on my wife's car but having no luck. Main problem is I am unable to find out the line where it says extension_tyre_pressure. Have managed to get yellow tyre pressure icon on dash and reset tyre pressure on pop up screen but it's greyed out any help would be great

Since there is a lot of trouble in this thread and everything is a bit messy I'll just post the instructions a bit more clearly.
TPMS Instructions:

Module 5F

Activate these next ones (just choose active):
(56) vehicle_menu-operation-menu_display_rdk
(13) vehicle_function list BAP; extension-tire_pressure_system_0x07

Module 17 Instruments
Coding -> Long coding.
Byte 4 check bit 0

Module 03 ABS/Brakes
(dont know if necesary) security code 20103
Coding.
heres the dificult part
example of the original code
12F162A224250A720178060841CC2548462450806082A4F2004100080508
New code should look like these
12F162A224250A720178060841CC2548462450806082A4F2004100388508
Just changing those 2 numbers at the end will be all you need to change.
Then save the new code.

Resete MMI (Menu + OK + Right up button) press them it the order shown and release immidiately

Start engine, leave it 1 min, then turn off ignition.

Go to Menu -> Car -> Sistems -> Service y control -> (it should be there)
Hi Chi Young in your post 13 extension-tire_pressure line is not in my drop down menu is missing on my car is there any way I can get this there. It's almost complete done on my car apart from that any help would be great cheers.

Hi Shazad Manzoor,

I am facing the same issue as you as well. I am on Ross-Tech hex-v2 cable running VCDS Beta v17.6. I was able to find and enable most of the suggested menu and feature within Module 5F and Module 17 Instruments, however my coding were different from the ones listed in this thread and other forums posts, after some trial and error, I managed to get tyre pressure icon showing on dash, tyre pressure menu on dash and MMI showing the greyed out option to set tire pressure. I'm not sure if you have managed to resolve it on your end, if you do, it would be nice to share your method to get it working.

I am hoping someone could kindly advise us if its the coding that is causing this greyed out option? I'm on Audi A3 8V Facelift Non-Navi MMI, manufactured in 2016. I believe its on MIB2 platform.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Brumble guy who tried to do my tpms got as far as you did. In the end I have contacted a member on her called Alex from vag car coding and have arranged for him to carry out my tpms and a few other other bits of coding. I highly recommend Alex as he is very experienced in what he does. If you can find him on her and PM him he will tell you what you need to do.

No worries brumble, Alex was kind enough to reply to me and help me out. He regularly attends VAG shows around the country so you can contact him and arrange a meet or go to him he is based in London.

Hi Guys,

Could any Audi s3 8V facelift owner shared the ABS module long code? I really want to enable the factory TPMS as mine doesn't come with it in my region. After reviewing almost all the related posts, I am still having trouble to understand which bytes/bits should be changed/enabled.
By looking at my ABS module long code down below, it looks so much different than the one with the pre-facelift available in the forums:

hey there,
I've been using OBDELEVEN i guess you can call it an alternative to VCDS. For previous mods it's been great. (I'm am definitely investing in VCDS after this)
i attempted this TPMS on my 2013 AUDI 8VA and done everything successfully up until 'Module 03 ABS/ Brakes. On this OBDELEVEN app there seems to be no way to change the coding part. i was sitting down for an hour trying to change and decided to reset the mmi and try my luck. The TPMS appeared in the mmi but i couldn't click it. also warning lights popped up and i was able the clear 4/5 of them.

Also i have noticed just like someone else in the forum that i also don't have byte 30. i have inserted pictures to show what I'm talking about.
any input would be great and well appreciated.
