Forgive me, this post might be a bit of a ramble but I'm incredibly excited as I found out a few days ago that my order for my B9 A4 has been approved and submitted! I have read almost every post on this forum already and every comment!

It's a company car but was given pretty free range on what I could have provided it was within the budgets. Upgrading from a 2015 Astra 1.6 Diesel it should be a big change!

The spec of the car ordered is:
http://configurator.audi.co.uk/entry?mandant=accx-uk&audicode=A877AV04

TFSI 190 Sline stronic in Brilliant Black with the standard 18" Star Twin Alloys. Tech Pack, Light and Vision Pack and Heated Seats.

I've been given a estimated delivery day of "September" here's hoping its towards the beginning of the month.

Most excited as this is my first petrol car since my first car (1.2 Corsa....) but also my first automatic, so I'd love move peoples opinions on the stronic gearbox and the opinions above as well.

Also looking forward to comparing the drive and power to my B7 A4 140 TDI that was mapped to 185bhp. I imagine alot has changed in the 10 years between the cars.

Blimey are you going to notice the difference going from a 1.6 diesel astra to an A4, they are poles apart and the 2.0l tfsi is very quiet, refined and smooth. Congratulations on your order...

Thanks!

Yeah the Astra is a bit rough, and I'm looking forward to that being gone but its done the job. I'm looking forward to comparing it to my B7 mostly until that goes as well :bye:

Welcome to the forum :) The wait will be worth it.

Like cake2u says. The engine is very refined and smooth and you'll definitely notice the difference from an Astra. Your very brave going for black. It is a
nice colour when clean but a nightmare to actually keep clean, and keep swirl mark free. The waiting will feel like a lifetime. It did for me on my previous Audis. It'll be worth it though. We expect plenty of pictures :)

Thank you. I'm gutted I haven't actually test drove the TFSI, only the TDI. Ha yeah... but my B7 is the same colour and I've grown to love it. I spent alot of time cleaning the cars as I do driving so hopefully will be ok! Hopefully it is worth it and of course there will be pictures.

Also, thank you for the signature idea...

Welcome to audi-sport.net. Spec looks good. September not that far away. It's a big upgrade from the Astra and I'm sure you will enjoy the tfsi engine. :)

Nice one! I'm also about to place my order sometime this week, didn't know that wait was that long!....

What spec/colour you going for that's not a long wait. lol. :)

Dont know how anyone can cope waiting that long for their dream car lol!

this is my spec, almost the same as OPs uk.audi.com/A778691K
That looks good. Mythos is nice. Tfsi s-tronic is fantastic, you won't be disappointed.
All good things come to those that wait. We all done it. It's surprising how quick it goes:)

Thanks for the welcome Sandra. Indeed it's not, but it sure does feel a lifetime away at the moment!

The wait may be shorter, mine is an estimate, I need to actually get in contact with the dealer directly to confirm! Nice spec on yours as well!

Great car. You will have a huge grin on your face coming from a 1.6 astra.

+1 on the Sandra is Awesome! :hi:

I just do what I do. You need to read the thread. It has been running for 4 years now.

The Tfsi is a great engine. I've had mine 3 weeks and still grin when I get out. This is my first auto and I would go back now. It takes a bit of getting used to with the stop/start. There's an art to stopping gently so the engines stays running when you need a quick get away.

Just waiting for some darker evenings to give the matrix LEDs a go.

At least a September delivery gives you something good at the end of the summer.

Yes slight press of the brake pedal will not activate the start/stop whereas a heavier press will...

Glad to hear. You would go back to a manual or wouldn't? Nice to know about the stop start. I've driven a few automatic skodas for work and turning the engine off every time we stopped did my head in.

For the Matrix LED, do you just turn them on and it works? (As in there is no high beam) the videos I've seen on the subject aren't clear.

@PhxViper I meant I would not go back now. The auto is great. I had stop/start on the last manual but its different on the auto. The take off feels smoother when the engine is already running rather than going from a stopped engine though.

For the matrix LEDs the is a normal main beam control. By default once its main beam is on the icon on the screen has auto written above it and it just dips as needed. You can override it and go back to a manual mode.

I thought that's what you meant, just checking! All sounds good then.

Thanks for the clarification. Looking forward to trying that out too.

Thank you again Steve. My awesome thread is few years old now :) x

I know but no harm in spreading the word :D

@PhxViper : You'll love the Audi, we all do :D
The Matrix LED headlights are very cool, flick to what would be high beam and you get the Auto headlight symbol as mentioned above.
The car just does it's own thing but managed to light up both sides of the road witout blinding oncoming traffic. I've never seen the far side verge lit up before, it's odd but very useful!

I've got a build week! 34 week commencing 22nd August! Hopefully mid-September for delivery. :yahoo:

I've tried using the tracker information but its not accepting the company / postcode at the moment so re-requested this information form the dealer.

Thanks Guys! 10 minutes and I can leave work to go and collect.

I didn't think I'd be this excited. I'll post plenty of pictures tomorrow most likely!

Well the last 24 hours have been a blast! Collected and left the dealership around 6:00pm. I don't think I sat down at home until 10pm. Took it on a nice 50 mile drive to get use to the stronic / start&stop / automatic handbrake and use to all the MMI controls.

Overall the car is fantastic, the only tiny gripe I have about the car is arm rest storage is on the small side (especially with Audi Phone Box) compared to my B7. But that's it. Everything else is spot on.

The Engine and Gearbox are fantastic. Don't notice the gears at all, pulled out the dealership and onto a 40 and by the time I looked at the dash I was in 7th. Completely smooth. Its also as quicker than expected (but in a smooth and subtle way), very quickly getting up to speed.

Cabin is fantastic, Virtual Cockpit and Extended LED Package make it a fantastic place to be at night. Everything is in a good place and had a lot of friends and colleagues comment on the interior on how nice it is. It is also whisper quiet, with only a slightly grumble from the engine when you put your foot down.

Audi Sound System - I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the thread were some people were Pro-B&O but it appears to be an upgrade over the BOSE I had in the B7, and hopefully over time they will settle in a bit more.

Matrix Lights are brilliant, went down some country roads and you can see them working lighting up different sections as it detected light. I read someone putting it turns night into day and couldn't agree more with it.

That's everything I can think of at the moment.

The only other downside is they have swirled the paint when they have cleaned it before the handover (and the A3 as well..), that's a negative against Stoke's Wash Team. But nothing that can't be sorted.

Overally, I'm extremely happy with the choice of car and looking forward to my 4 years of ownership!

Sounds awesome! The only thing we are lacking are some photos :)

How are you finding the economy? What kind of MPG do you get on a long motorway run? I appreciate that you've only had the car a few days so perhaps you've not driven it that much yet.

I put some crude delivery photos in the photo thread, but I haven't had chance to detail and protect the car yet, that is this weekends job. So i'll get some better pictures then!

I can't comment on the economy unfortunately tho I've been.... enjoying the performance of the car instead at the moment :racer:. and the majority of my trips are 3 miles to work so that's not helping either.

Currently trip computer says 32.4mpg on long term memory, but need to fill it up this weekend and will then start calculating it with Fuelly so will start getting a more accurate reading.

I do have a long trip (Stoke to Cambridge) coming up in a few weeks so will see how it performs then and update you.

Thanks for replying :) If you do put it on Fuelly, would you mind providing a link to your page please? I'm very interested in this engine, but there is pretty much no information out there about how it performs.

I had a B9 A4 150PS TDi S-Tronic as a loan car for 5 weeks earlier this year and fell in love with it, but I really don't want a diesel. I'm test driving a Golf R Estate tomorrow, but I keep coming back to the A4 as the more grown up and refined choice.

Yeah not a problem, i'll most likely add the banner into my signature as well to be honest.

I choose the engine based on the official figures (risky), but they couldn't be worse than the early 30's late 20's I was getting in my TDI B7!
