Hi, I wonder if anyone can answer a question.

I picked up a 2015 A3 S Line about a month ago, it's got rear parking sensors (factory fitted) that I can control sound level/pitch etc.

When I put the car in reverse I don't get any visual display on my MMI screen, is that right?

TIA

Yes could be - you only get the display with parking system plus as far as I'm aware - that includes front sensors too.

The good news is that it's a 30 second VCDS tweak if you can find someone nearby to activate it for you.

Ahhhh ok, Thanks Rob2k68.

The only thing that puts me off about that, is getting some dodge pot that doesn't actually know what he/she is doing :(

Welcome over to ASN Matt. Hope you're enjoying the A3?

The guys on here who do the VCDS stuff tend to be superb. Ask the question. Someone will be close to you.

It's a pretty straight forward VCDS tweak to be fair.

Think this is it

  1. select STG 10 (parking aid)
  2. STG access authorization - Select function 16
  3. Enter access code 71679
  4. STG coding -> Select function 07
  5. Select Byte 2
  6. Bit 0 - optical display Parking Sensors - Activate

Absolutely loving it! The S Tronic box is just sublime. My previous car was an Insignia 160 CDTI auto and the box was (what I thought) ok, until I'd tried the Audi.

I've been looking at the VCDS mods thread and some of the things done are pretty amazing, some very talented people, that's for sure.

I've just joined a FB group for the same thing, to try and find someone local, if I can find someone on here that would be better.

Hi and welcome to the forums, Rob got it spot on ;)

I have park system plus, I've just taken this so you can see what it does.

I reverse right up to the house against the hedge, red lines come on when you get the fast and long bleeps 'STOP' lol, obviously the lines show where an object is:

Gutted, it couldn't be done because I've only got the rear parking sensors :(

That's odd - could swear I've done it on work colleagues car that has rears only. I'll check for sure on Monday.

It can be done haha... People here have done it

I believe if you get front and rear then you get the display. The only time you need VCDS is to get the display if you only have rear sensors

Should be possible as people here have managed it

My '65 plate SportBack TDI has rear sensors only and I've successfully activated the visual display via VCDS :)

+1 for the MY16 sportback with rear sensors only, easy mod if you follow the sticky.

Have activated visual parking display with no issues on sooooooo many 8V's which only have rear sensors, latest was a 2016 car while at the car wash today :)

Some people have reported issues with getting this to work on mid 2015 cars onwards. Not had any issues when working on these cars myself and again activated beeps on both a late 2015 and a 2016 car today while at the carwash :)

Check the VCDS PDF linked in my signature for more information. Suggest checking out the VCDS thread for more information also.

lol was a strange one today. First time back at this carwash after a while and there were 2 other 8V drivers there. Got talking, as one was a fully loaded S3, and then got modding :)

This was in there also but I had no time to plug into it :(

DJ Alix,
Must admit that I have been unable to do this which is really annoying as a really good feature . Will get out and give it another try based on your response and info provided.

This is how I code it:

  1. Doors closed and not locked, all windows closed
  2. Ignition in 1st / accessory position
  3. Make sure the MMI is not in CAR mode
  4. Connect via VCDS
  5. 09 - Cent Elect
  6. Security Access - 16 and enter code 31347
  7. Adaptations - 10
  8. Change (2) - Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung Verriegeln = Active
  9. Change (1) - Acknowledgement Signals - Akustische Rueckmeldung entriegen = Active
  10. Change (7) - Acknowledgement signals-Menuesteuerung akustische Rueckmeldung= Active
  11. Exit VCDS
  12. Three finger reset the MMI
  13. Once MMI is back up turn off ignition and remove the key for 5 mins
  14. Ignition in 1st / accessory position
  15. Via the MMI go to Menu > Car > Systems > Vehicle Settings > Central Locking Menu > Tone when Locking = tick the box to activate Tone when Locking and exit the menu
  16. Ignition off
  17. Exit car and lock to test
If you have been trying to get this working already make sure you reset the needed channels to not active and three finger reset the MMI before doing the above.

Yeah, the only others people close by have never been on the forum for months.

I don't mind travelling to get it done, I just don't want a wasted journey.

I have retrofitted front and rear sensors fitted by Audi dealership(not oem sensors). Is it possible to have the display activated if non oem sensors are fitted?..Before you ask lol......I don't know the make of the sensors that are fitted....:concern:

I only have rear sensors and got the MMI display up with VCDS.

Most dealers use aftermarket kits which do not interface with the car as such. If you can change the volume and frequency of the beeps via the MMI then then a Visual Display should be possible. If you have no MMI control then I am afraid no.

I use a fully extended 52m extension reel for long coding sessions :)
