C6 A6 Special Edition

i'm looking at C6 A6's special edition s-line.

All of them seem to have MMI high but some have an extra 'rocker' button on the MMI wheel - what's the difference?

If it get one is AMI and DAB relatively straight forward retro?

Oh, and what are the CVT / multi tronic autos like? As good as the tip tronic in the 3 Ltr?

The facelift models had MMI 3G with the joystick on the control panel, but cannot remember if you only got the joystick if you had the hard disk version.

For Pre-facelift models DAB & AMI and additional modules, and AMI can be quite expensive, on MMI 3G, AMI is an extra cable and DAB will require the radio module to be replace with a DAB compatible version.

The tip boxes are far more reliable than the CVT boxes, if you are buying a car with the CVT box make sure it was service every 40k miles. Also Audi state the tip box is sealed for life, however the manufacture of the box ZF state you should have the oil changed, but cannot remember their service intervals from the top of my head.

Cheers! Did the 2 tdi ever come with tip box or only manual / CVT?

I've seen some facelift cars without the joystick so I guess they are without hard disk nav.

We need a car for a 100 mile a day commute hence the 2 tdi for economy. What's the 2.7/3 tdi like for economy with the tip box? My mum had a 3 tdi on a 58 plate and I don't remember it being massively economical?

I've got a 2009 2.7 TDI manual and it seems to be averaging between 33 and 36 mpg. Might be better on a longer run (I hope).

I get about 40mpg with my 2.7 Tip Avant Quattro taking it reasonably steady

Re fuel economy: My 2004 3.0TDi Quattro tip is not great on fuel! Averages 27MPG with mixed driving (calculated tank to tank). My best tank was 32MPG.

What is real world economy in a 170 2.0tdi FwD 2010/2011 model? Will it see 45mpg? The daily drive is 12 miles of B roads and then 20 miles on A1 and the same in reverse!

I get around 40mpg calculated, the DIS shows slightly more. 42 mile commute each way,mixture of A and B roads. Ive never managed to hit 45mpg over a tank. highest ive ever made is 44mpg.

It's called MPGcalc. Very useful as you can easily put in miles/litres/cost while your filling up.

I've found our A6 Multitronic is pretty poor on fuel The wife does tend to do short trips at present due to our first child. On long trips i do see 45/47 on he DIS. But as an average you can see below:
