Good evening everyone,

I'm facing an inconvenience in my S3 that I'd like your opinion on how to solve. I'm a tall-ish person, 200cm (6 foot 6 inches) and I've gotten tired of my right knee rubbing the console permanently when I drive. I fear for the center console's safety, as when I take fast left handed turns I can't help using said knee to stabilize myself in the car.

As far as I see it, there are 3 ways to deal with this.

A: Sell the car.

Not gonna happen. :p

B: Take apart seat and inspect the seat rails. Can I unbolt them, move them backwards, and re-bolt them? Or will I have to cut them out of the floorpan? I have about 10cm of space left behind me with the stock seat, and I think 10cm will be enough for me to fit comfortably.

C: Replace the seats. I'm in love with the TT 225 Quattro Sport seats, but I've looked around here and couldn't find any. Then I looked online and saw how few they made in the first place, so I doubt I'll find em. I found plenty of MK5/MK6 GTI seats (which do hold me better and are much lighter as they are non-electric and non-heated). Found those in that funky plaid as well as black leather. My interior is black leather so I think it'd be fine.

Otherwise, I have the option of buying a proper bucket, but I honestly don't want to fork out that much money for them. A nice bucket seat is $800 per unit and above; that's before shipping them to Lebanon. Locally, the only bucket seats I could find that were not replicas were the hardcore racing buckets, the type that require harnesses and have very little cushioning. There are plenty of replica buckets for ~$200 per seat, but I fear for my safety using those (mostly Sparco Evo2/3 reps and Recaros).

Is there any bolt-in seat anyone could recommend, or a guide on how to fit seats from a newer/different VAG product?

If it makes a difference, I'm so tall no one sits behind me anyway.. It is an option to get seats that do not fold over. I don't mind removing the back seats to save a bit on weight anyhow.

Its the mk4 Golf seats that directly fit
Seat seats too

There are several designs which offer similar support to the S3 seat
The one I'm thinking of in particular came in cloth/leather/leather+suede and found in Golf GTI/GT TDI and similar engined Bora's

Any stock seat can be greatly improved by using a CG Lock though

If you where going to the effort of cutting out the OEM seat rail, I'd go the option of sitting rails, and then being able to use 'normal' flat mounting seat
You would then able to fit a wide array of seats, both OEM (eg other OEM - Porsche/etc/etc) and after market (Recaro recliners etc)

Buckets+harnesses are the ultimate option though, if you want to pull g through corners

Can you elaborate on this, please? What do you mean by sitting rails?

A bit like this I believe...

The TT quattro sport seat (recaros) sit too high as they are on retro fitted to sliding rails... S3 Recaros sit higher than A3/Golf seats due to electrics...

Fitting buckets properly would need the above doing tbh

Heres my seats mounted to standard S3 subframes

Those look nice. Too pricey for me to commit to, though. Those seats are expensive. Alternatively, if I wanted something similar to that, I could use a JDM Evolution 9 seat. Light, right color, can still use a seatbelt and not a harness to make it easy to live with every day.

Did you modify the rails on those seats for them to fit to your standard S3 seat rails?
