2013 A4 Black Edition Saloon lowering question....

Hi,

I'd like to lower my 2013 A4 Black Edition, would springs do the trick, or would I need new suspension, or coil overs? Total noob and have no idea!

I'd like to drop an inch or more lower, and if possible get a bit of a less harsh ride from it; I don't mind it as it adds to the sportiness, but rear passengers don't like the ride so much, and I don't have drive select, so it's either stiff, or stiffer in sport mode.

Ideally, something I could adjust simply, in the car or under bonnet, no jacking up malarkey

Also, would I need to do anything else, such as tracking, adding spacers or anything?

Thanks in advance, budget would probably be £300-£500, would that be enough for what I want?

Thank you for your post.

Springs alone will get you lower but to get a better all round ride I'd suggest a good quality springs and shocks kit.

Please confirm if your A4 is a saloon or an avant, FWD or Quattro and also what engine size.

It's a saloon, 2.0TDi, FWD

So, could I get more comfort from the setup you suggest, would replacing them cause any issues with anything, i.e. when I put it in "Sport" mode, it all tightens up & gets stiffer, so I'm guessing this mode adjusts the suspension, (or am I misinformed)?

I'd obviously like to keep the tight handling with the bonus of lowering, and the more comfortable ride, (what's the max I could drop without worrying about speed humps etc.),

What setup/s would you suggest/recommend?

If you want to keep the current electronic dampers then it would just be the springs you'd change.

I'd say the best option and the most well matched would be the Eibach Pro or Sportline springs but with you having the Black Edition you wouldn't get the full quoted drop from them so lowering would be subtle -

Springs and shocks would give a subtle drop, maybe around max 20mm lower then what you have now with the Black Edition. Coilovers would be the way to go if you wanted some noticeable.

Sorry to hijack. I have the same car but the quattro version, I am interested in the 40mm H&R so would the drop be just 20mm as I already have the Black edition, if so then thats what I am looking for really and to try and reduce the body roll around the corners.

Yes if you have a Black Edition the drop you'd get from a set of 40mm springs would be around 20mm.

I'm guessing 2-2.5cm front and 1.5-2cm rear?
Would there be any rubbing issues?
Would the ride be the same quality, (just lower)?

Around 25mm/15mm.

No you should be fine with that drop.

It would be similar yes, I'd say a little firmer but less harsh if that makes sense.
