6 Month Roof Clean

My 6 month routine of shampoo'ing and water-proofing the roof completed this afternoon.
This is the 3rd time I've done it now and the exercise is definitely getting quicker / easier.

Just wish I could buy the Autoglym water-proofer bottle on its own instead of having to buy the full kit.
Got loads of shampoo if anyone needs a bottle or two.

The tip of using a paintbrush to put the water-proofer on has been invaluable.

Rain just sits on the roof in big beads now - and runs off straight-away when you pull-off.
Got Rain-X on the rear window which works brilliantly - just wish I could put it on the front windscreen as I've always done with previous vehicles.

The car really comes in to its own in this recent warm / dry weather - not too hot, not too cold.

Try G-Tecniq G1. Much better than Rain-X.

Hmmm.....I looked at that with my previous car.
It just seems such a precise art, with loads of warnings / tales of woe if you got it wrong from various forums.

Rain-X takes literally 2 minutes to put on / rub off, so - as usual for me - I took the easy route !!

I'm not really a photo person - and I wouldn't know how to load them up to the Forum if I had them !!

It's an absolute doddle. You clean the glass, apply the sealant, let it dry, and remove the excess with IsoPropyl alchohol. It takes about half an hour...

...and it lasts for years. My car is now just over three years old, and the effect has only just started to deteriorate.

I have the full gtechniq Glass cleaning kit polish,and 3other applications,l used the glass polish for a test thinking it's was aquaphobic boy was l wrong it stripped everything from all of the windows that l applied previously,yeah just a primer l gathered since then l haven't bothered with applying the rest of the kit l just clean the windows on a weekly basis with rainX,wiper judder is another concern with this kit

Yeah, even Rain-X you've gotta be careful..................couple of weeks ago I put too much on the windscreen and incurred the wrath of the judder-naut!! Very mild to be fair and wore off after a few days but best advice don't put any of these products on yer windscreen, rear/side windows fine.

Yeah mate,that Gtechniq glass kit cost me £35 bangers...waste of money,its still in the bag....only good thing about it was,l got a very nice grey microfiber.. Gtechniq cloth with it...lol

Just looked at the kit it contains G1,G2,G4,G6...a load a G's going on there....but it didnt hit the Spot..lol

Clearly experiences differ, but I've never suffered wiper judder on the cars I've used G1 on. I honestly can't recommend it enough. It effectively makes the wipers redundant anyway, since anything more than a stiff breeze has the water sheeting off the glass in lumps. I drove 90 miles through Northern France in monsoon conditions without needing them once.

I do still use rain-x (and here's a tip worth noting), it keeps the water marks off of my shower enclosure. Makes cleaning the ****** thing a doddle since all it needs is a rain-x refresh every couple of weeks. If you live in an area with hard water, you'lll appreciate this is a massive bonus. Top man tip right there.
