No RS3 orders being taken

I like the rear lights, the front just looks too much like the a4 now though

However I remember being quite underwhelmed when I first saw the rs3

Lets be honest mate ........ it is the engine, sound & performance which makes the RS3.
Regardless of PFL or FL, these are the core factors which are the attraction of this car

OK, guessing a bit I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if we get the TT RS reveal first, before the facelift reveal on the RS3. I'm thinking this might be the case if rumours of power hike and new RS family style bumpers are true. Probably pure BS on my part, but hey, where's the fun if we can't all guess now and again.

I'd say that is very possible ... and would 'stretch out' the interest in these cars too.
Create some hype & buzz over the TTRS, followed a few months later by the same for the RS3.
More so if they want to give the TTRS some added publicity by promoting increased power & bhp .. which could then be replicated for the RS3.
So yeah, could be a good shout.

This from last paragraph of spread on A3/S3 facelift (page 19) of issue 9 (today) Auto Zeitung magazine (translated):

"The sportiest A3 Audi will donate the facelift until autumn. The current 367-hp Funfzylinder should also get a small performance boost and then comes not only in Sportback but back on top in the RS3 Sedan."

Maybe they will announce the RS3 facelift next few weeks? Or maybe not?

There are currently no plans for any official announcement for the RS model right now. I contacted the marketing office in Germany and the reply stated that we will have to wait until later this year which sort of ties in with some of the assumptions in the posts above.

The anticipation and rumours will have to rumble on but I still intend to buy a current model regardless of the FL (if the damn dealers can make their mind up as to whether a car can still be ordered or not).

Did someone say there would be a lag between A3/S3 and RS3 :tonguewink:

Surely they will release details in the next few weeks as the RS3 will look dated compared to the new updated S3.
Also they are made on the same production line so it will be done at the same time.

lol it will hardly look dated ... but I can see how somebody wanting to buy a new RS3 when the A/S3 facelift is out would rightly want the facelift.

I think what is becoming clear is that there will be a lag between the new A3 & S3 being released and the RS3 which is likely to be months later or even next year.

If the RS3 facelift was imminent, Audi would have mentioned it along with all the offical facelift news this week, but its all about the A3 & S3.

I do think we will see the TTRS now before the facelift RS3 as was mentioned by Foxtrot - extra power hike, lighter engine block, revised gearbox etc etc, it could all stack up. Let the TTRS have the glory first and then let the new revisions filter into the RS3.

& that way Audi will get a shed load of sales for the A3's & S3's initially and then get a surge for RS3's when they are released again down the line.

TTRS ragtop: looking at one now in as near as damn it the specification we want - and we've been a looking for some time now: and it's the old style and will sit beautifully and sound wonderfully (is that even a word) alongside our OLD style RS3: huba huba :yahoo:

Fingers crossed big time but there MAY!!! be a cracking low mileage (15K) and perfect 2010 TT Sport ragtop, quattro with DSG available shortly

Facelifts my bum (sorry Sandra)... :racer:

Buy it NOW - no pockets in shrouds... :salute:

Get a grip man.
How in Gods name are they going to look dated. The whole thing with the S3 is that it looks so similar to an Sline you can't tell them apart.
The new one will be similarly conservative unlike the RS which is much more aggressive so they won't look similar enough to be compared.
The B9 RS4 has not been announced yet but the B8 RS4 still looks the business when next to a B9 avant .So dated no I don't think so. Classics stay classics.
Check out pics of 45bvtc's RS3 8p
Old model but still stunning in that cornflower blue.

The A6 and RS6 got the facelift at the same time even though the RS6 announcement was a few weeks after the A6.

Easy... Every morning I wake up I'm looking at an old model i.e, today was the 71st time I've experienced the 7th of April and I thought exactly the same, lets see if we can make tomorrow the 71st time I've seen the 8th of April - and bl**dy enjoy it!

PS: I'll make my mind up on a whatever face lift if and when it happens and if it does and I like it then maybe I'll get a facelift but until then I just ain't gonna bother myself with a facelift or a nano seconds worth of acceleration in modern day traffic; just gonna fill me garage with 5-pot engines that sound fabulous even when running slow - low speed brake squeal sorted of course, and I have...

Keep seeing people asking questions about whether or not a dealer will take an order for an RS3... It's a NO people, simple as that. If a dealer tells you otherwise then they a selling you short! My dealer reckons long gap now until facelift RS3 is available. Take a look through the configurator and notice all the RS models that are absent, there is no priority on RS models...

Very well put Sir & it's wonderful to hear how much joy your :sunglasses: Bluey 'rightly so' gives you .... but that is what these cars do isn't !

Once you have one, they are such a pleasure to own that you really feel content with what you have.

I have always enjoyed cars, but this RS3 is giving me more enjoyment & fun than any other car I've owned.

Yeah the facelift will be great, but in equal measure so is the mark 1 and current model ... they all share a core element, that superb 5 cylinder musical powerhouse masterpiece :sunglasses:

And that's exactly what Audi are banking on ... to build up another 7 to 8 month waiting list ! :moneybag::moneybag: :)

Excuse the thread Hijack but I'm not sure if there is a dedicated 8V classified area as it wasn't evident. I thought this seriously reluctant sale may be of interest to the frustrated few on here commenting on waiting lists/facelifts. I have looked after her impeccably and will be devastated to see it go. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifi...3-sportback-quattro----------2015/5571241?v=bView attachment 88420
Stunning rs3 mate! Take a part exchange yeah?!?!.. lol.

Seriously tho, good luck with sale! Why are you selling if you don't mind me asking?

Thank you Andy.

I don't mind at all, I have just recently accepted a new job which is likely to result in significant time abroad so she will be used even less than currently. A tough decision but and I'll be sad to see it go hence trying to find a worthy owner on here that would enjoy it as much as I have.

Just spoke to Audi UK and they confirm that there will be no facelift for the RS3?!
Not sure if they are telling the truth or not but they say that only the A3 / S3 will get the facelift and the RS3 will remain the same once they continue production.

Customer Service staff will only quote details that has been officially released by the Importer.
So until Volkswagen Group United Kingdom Limited release a publically viewable statement that states that there is a facelifted RS3 no customer call center staff can say anything even if they know there is going to be one.
So only official announcement is that there is an A3/S3 facelift.

I thin

I think you've been sold a line there. I cannot see new tooling line being prepared surely for the A3/S3. FL is coming.

Don't get me wrong as I agree with you but this is what Audi UK said to me.
Maybe the RS3 SB will get the facelift or as Audi UK say "The RS3 will not be updated"

All you can take from this is "we still have stock and/or build slots which we want to make money from so we're gonna say whatever we need to, to get you to purchase one of those." Presumably for the same reasons, I was being told in Feb that an A3 facelift was "at least a year away"... Uhuh. Intentional BS or no idea? Either way, no help.

Sorry to sound like a numpty but is there an easier way to find out how many build slots are left without having to ring around every single dealer?..

Probably July with order books open in August. TTRS announcement is 25th in China, with UK launch that night (25th April - invite only event in London). You will have the press drive a few weeks after that and then dealer launch in June with order book open, so RS3 FL announcement with new extras etc. late July for August order book opening.
(S4 launch is likely to be in between the TTRS and RS3 FL.)

it may just be that there are no immediate plans to re-issue the RS3 and that there will be an extended break before re-lauching it - with the facelift - but this could be months down the line, later this year or even into next year - and we could see it being saloon only, sportback only or both ?

Either way ... I really don't think we are gonna see RS3 orders being taken for some time - no idea why, but that is the vibe that is being put out. And it is not to sell existing cars or build slots as they are in extremely short supply now and Dealers are giving little or zero discount such is their confidence they will shift the remaining cars.

Order book reopens August - from trusted source who hasn't given me duff info yet as I am waiting to order when it is available. Only unknown (or NDA'd part) is saloon availability.

That would make the most sense as why would Audi have a huge break in production when they could be selling cars.
The Merc A45 AMG for example had no break at all !

There's no rational business case to deny a market a product they're willing to buy for 6months or more. The 'keep RS cars exclusive' or 'respect RS3 owners' thing doesn't wash. Not this little hot hatch and not this mob. It's priced to be an RS brand builder and these guys just got done for putting profit before honesty, integrity, the law and just about everything else, including human life. I'm pretty sure they're about selling cars any way they can. ;)

I agree, don't think we will see a facelifted RS3 "Sportback" for a while. RS3 Sedan towards the end of the year... yeah maybe.

Nope RS3 saloon not available in USA until Aug 2017, why might it be in the UK earlier than that?

Lol still no ******* clues from Audi! Anyone seen the test car yet ;)
