Should have done this when I modified the other parts of the intake but I thought it would need a bumper off jobbie. It didn't.

I removed the top part of the grill slats.
Just behind the rings and along the top row, there is a restrictive trim.
Now some people say take a dremel to it.
This was my original idea, but it took me 10 minutes to get it out completely, w it hour removing the bumper.

So now, I have the resonator / snow grill removed from the air filter box.
I have the induction panel opened up on the right hand side, and now the front grill opened fully.
This provides excellent air ram to the filter, aswell as a noticeable performance increase.

Only concern is does this expose the bonnet latches can people get to them with a coat hanger wire and open your bonnet ?

That's part of why I'm changing them mate saves another paint job lol. Centre black hats are alloy so won't rust and are a lot lighter. Fronts are 2.3Kg EACH lighter than original disc, rears are 1.2Kg EACH lighter so total weight save of 7Kg from the car but bearing in mind that's it's unsprung mass it should have handling benefits similar to fitting lightweight wheels as the suspension doesn't have to work so hard and so should perform better. Stainless steel braided hoses will improve pedal feel and the grooved and drilled discs will have improved cooling (discs are handed so grooves face forward) and should also bite better and clean the surface of the pad.

I'll install myself but you're not looking at much change from £1200 - oh well its also my hobby I guess not a big drinker and don't do any sporting events - kerching !!

you have the lever at the front, yeah they can get to that, but it doesn't do anything because the latches are on both sides.
they aren't exposed. there is enough trim remaining for them to not visible through the grill.
if you look through / poke anything through, it only going to go into the inlet piping that on the slam panel.
