Chops S4 thread

Trick this has been the biggest pain in the *** ever

The liquid dip was a mess and wouldn't stick to the chrome so I pealed it all off

Iv been to a couple of people local and they weren't keen to paint as they couldn't say it wouldn't wear or chip round door frames

Roof bars is a head lining out job and I know I would break something but I'm still concidering just masking and painting myself with etching primer and black but I need premises with a heater etc as my garage isn't big enough

I have purchased some vinyl tape so will be giving that a try and I might give the wrapping a try too but it's just not warm enough outside yet and I stay at a really windy bit

Half my trouble is I'm trying to do it on the cheap but I'm just not keen to pay £200-£300 up town for something that's a simple job but it's looking like I might just need to

I know it's crazy to grudge the money on a car that cost this much especially when I'm spending £300 on air filters but when I know in my head I can do these things myself but I just don't have the place or the equipment anymore it puts me off

Right test run still to be carried out as paint is drying but her is a tic over vid of i can get it to load :-0

That's sounding pretty awesome already :)

I was hoping for better news, you are where I am at, however got to find a solution as that chrome has got to go. I can paint, have my own paint facilities, I just need to get the bits off the car. Was looking at painting roof bars on, just make sure you mask properly as any edges will lift and wreck the whole job. If I was you I go with wrapping on the roof bars. I am a perfectionist so the idea of wrapping on window trims does not sit well but balance is having doors stripped out and all the rattles and ill fitting that could come from that.

I need to do grille (which I am going to buy in gloss black) and paint trim on front and rear bumper in body colour. Why they didn't do black out on the Limited Edition RS4 beats me!

If you can get hold of a second hand window trim or roof bar I will have a go at painting FOC for you/me just to make sure it can be done. (I don't paint cars I paint components to a higher quality to normal car finishes)

Yeh bud chrome must go I feel it's letting the car down now as its not the look I want

I'm on the look out for some black roof bars, I think with some lining tape and a steady hand you could prob get a not bad edge on the roof bars but getting the tape off would be tricky

I think the window trim would be a mare to paint and seems like serious work to remove

I can see me just paying to get it wrapped or having a go myself until I get it right as its easy to take off if I make a mistake, which I will

Off to work but I like it ! .......

How easy is it to take off the fog light surrounds for paint??

There not too bad to do

If you put a thin flat head screw driver on the inside of the ring it will pop out and sideways at same time

Right here it is in the day light...

Evening Chop,

What did you paint the fog surrounds with?
Hey bud

Grey plastic primer and some satin black

I'd recommend etching primer if it's on chrome as it would help the piant stick better and maby stop some of the stone chips going right through

Looking good mate! Where did you get the German flag window decals from?

There off eBay bud only a couple of £ for 4

That was another reason for keeping the badge red so it ties in with the flag

All part of the master plan ;-)

Looking the dogs nuts Chop, although I like the idea of black/yellow S4 badge suggested by xpoweruk.

Keep up the good work. :salute:

That's looking surprisingly good Chop, even better if you had yellow leather centres on the seats.

Sorry Chop, note to self, stop putting ideas into other members heads and costing them money! :whip:
