Hey guys,

Tried searching but my Google skills didn't favour me. Would anyone have/knows anyone who would have a brochure for the mentioned above A3?

I'm trying to see what each trim offered and see what options the original owner had on the car.

Thanks,
Dave

Did you have a look in the resources section Dave :)

Hi Sandra,
I had a look yeah, I saw couple from 2008 and the 2012 but none from around 2005.

I'm on mobile so if there is one, I do apologise. It's a pain to navigate these forums via a mobile haha I'll have a look when I get home tonight.

If you don’t get any luck here, then try Audi customer services. In the past they have provided copies to me of brochures from a few years back (albeit not as far back as 2005!)

Hey guys!

Thank you so much for the effort, I really appreciate that.

And fangio, that looks very close to my car and I thought that's the brochure but a couple things don't seem to match up. For example I don't have cruise control, neither the alloys and some of the materials that are shown in the brochure.

I'd doubt that the owner would get rid of cruise control in 2005. Do you reckon that the pre-facelift or perhaps the post-facelift or something...one of the models within 2005?

In the meanwhile, I will get in touch with Audi CS as mister.c. mentioned. Thanks, much appreciated. I will let you know if I find anything :)

SE is not a special edition, SE spec is a luxury spec as apposed to basic, then you get the sport and s-line, the s line was the only special edition,

What you really get is what the original owner asks for. Mine's an '05 SE sportback and it had silver trim, folding mirrors and rear parking sensors as well as fog lights, ambience lighting, puddle lights and active red door lights.

Maybe your getting Special Edition mixed up with SE, they're two different specs when it comes to Audi. Special edition is basic - manual air con, no cruise control, no auto lights/wipers etc. whereas the SE has all of the above as well as a dual-zone climate control.

And I think the big screen CD player came in 2007 if not late 2006, my A3 is registered in early 2006 but I have the old stereo system.

Sorry mate this one has the special edition models.
Audi A3 and Sportback Pricing and Specification 2006.pdf
That looks like the last brochure before the cassette player was dropped (from the Standard model, SE and Sport have CD), and the S3 was added.

I've got an undated one named "pdf.Par.0008.File.pdf", which has the Chorus III CD player listed as standard but still a picture of a Chorus II CD player.

"pdf.Par.0010.File.pdf" is dated Nov 2006 and drops the 'III' from Chorus and shows the double DIN unit but has lost the S-Line Special Editions.

It was an oddity at the time that Cruise Control was standard on the SE but an option on the Sport, S-Line and S-Line Special Editions. But it's not too expensive to retrofit AFAIK.

In 2006 there was also an S-Line Special Edition, same as the S-Line but with full leather seats, the S-Line at the time only came with part leather seats. Oddly enough it seem to cost only 725 quid more than the Sport whereas the S-Line trim was priced at 1550 quid.

I'm talking about the lower end models, on auto trader all basic spec A3 are listed as 'Special Edition' , maybe to attract customers. The S Line special edition is also there for A4's of the same age, they have a few better bits and bobs like xenon headlights, two tone seats etc.

I apologize for the confusion, I was referring to SE as the basic version. That being said, the cruise control was meant to be standard on it, which I don't have :( Thanks a lot for that anyway guys, much appreciated.Audi still hasn't got back to me, on the side.

No they are not.
The SE is a trim package added to a standard equipped car and not special edition.

Okay, An Audi A3 car starts standard equipment, without the the SE package.
The SE trim package which you can order for the standard equipment car is an option package that includes cruise control that does not come on the Standard equipment cars.

I am guessing that that was the case around 2005 yeah? Because now a days, the SE is the standard trim. Right?

Have a look on auto trader, the SE are labelled SE, the basic spec are labelled 'Special Edition', on the 1.9 that is.

And as you can tell, the OP was getting the basic spec and SE mixed up purely because the basic spec is labelled special edition when people are selling them.

Follow the link below, it's just one of the many 'special editions' on sale but they're the basic spec:

As far as I know the basic spec didn't come with cruise control as standard

They did do "Special Edition" versions of the lower end models too, the brochure linked on this thread has 1.6 and 1.9TDi Special Edition - they're prevalent because they were cheaper than the equivalent base models.

Yeah I see there were some cars with 1.9tdi and 1.6i engines that were special edition, most probably they were engines not very popular, so they chucked a few extras on and said they are special edition.

That is correctly labelled, being a "Special Edition" of the base spec, as it comes with Air-con, which the base spec at the time didn't. That's the only difference.

But as you say, it's not an SE.

Another confusion can arise as the reg doc for my S-Line Special Edition calls it an "S-Line SE"

They'll call it anything for a sale lol

Wait, so how can I find out detailed info about my car? I mean everything about the engine, trim etc. ?

Hmm this was more complicated than I thought :(

Yeah on my log book is says A3 SE S LINE FSI A, no mention that the the car is an tfsi,
Oh yeah, you put the codes decoder link on, but the link doesn't seem to be working anymore on your original thread.
