my current golf R lease finishes in September, I'm thinking of coming back to an S3, what's the likely discounts and deals out there? Don't mind lease or PCp, might fancy PCp as would like to buy this one...

Was told by dealer PCP is NOT financially best if you have an intention of buying the car... HP would be more suited

If you want to buy PCP sometimes is financially beneficial aswell. You can get a lower interest rate than HP and you can get a dealer contribution which don't usually happen on HP. Well that was the case for me anyway.

I've just got almost 5k off a s3 on pcp. It's a fresh build so not ready until May. Use carwow to get great deals and take them
To your local dealer and ask them to match
The best offer.

If it's the existing model you will get a good deal but you're timing for changing maybe a little out, as the facelift car will be with us come September,no deals to be had on that really
But there maybe existing stock S3"s available for you on a good deal

@mojo555 - As you appreciate % of discounts vary at different times of the year
I would check the new car brokers websites - Carwow, Carfile, Orangewheels, Drive the Deal to see what the current level of discounting is

I would think come September time there may be some pre-facelift :s3addict: Dealer stock models available at substantial discounts
If & when there is a facelift of the A3/S3 range later this year the discounting on these car I would think will nominal compared with the current discounting levels

By way of a baseline, in early Feb I ordered an A3 Sportback sport in Ibis white, 1.4TSi COD automatic and added cruise control & folding mirrors through Drive the Deal. The discount against manufacturer's OTR price come to 12.49%. If anyone finds a better deal - please don't tell me :readit:

Buy now and grab a bargain...................waiting's for losers!!

The way I see it, they aren't going to do anything drastic with the facelift model. It'll still be the MQB platform, it'll still be the same range of engines; which leaves consmetic fiddling, suspension tweaking, maybe a better pop-up screen, perhaps a bit more internal tinsel.

Personally, I'd rather have the discount and the car in time for summer, than be a beta tester for the facelift!

That's how I thought as I've just ordered an A3 1.4COD to replace my 2yr old 1.4 122.

Ok, there maybe a 'final edition' version and the facelift model is coming out soon, probably not available town till Sept, but the discount I got was too good to turn down.

Each to there own as they say,as a current S3 owner l really can't wait to see what options are available ie wheels, lights, interior tweaks, these l mention can make a big improvement, and no doubt the suspension will be tweaked, also l can see a couple of new colours being introduced as the icing on the cake....l would wait for the fresher looking version but that's just me

Thanks for the replies, I'm in my current lease on the golf u til September so can't do anything until then anyway! Come July August time hopefully I will be able to see the difference and choose which one suits me, although the discount sounds appealing especially as I pay very little on this lease!
Anyone got experience going to or from a Golf R?

I will admit the golf r estate does look tempting for the next car.. Shock /horror... Trouble is Audi don't do a real equivalent!

Didn't want to start a vs thread was just asking on people's opinion who may of had both? The Golf R is an amazing car, but then again so we're my two S'3s I had...

First post, so be gentle.

I've just ordered a 3door S3 in Daytona Grey, with tech pack, comfort pack, adaptive cruise, electric lumbar, hill hold, magnetic ride and B&O sounds.

Started out using broadspeed as a rough guide to prices and possible discounts. I used them years ago to import a new car from Denmark at vast discount. Their website allows you select a car and options and see a price immediately. There's a few surprises on there. For instance, you can't even get a fiver off of a Focus RS or a Mustang at the moment, but you can get over £12k off of a top spec BMW Z4.

I then got dealers to quote for an exact spec via carwow, and haggled from there. I got over 15% off.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, if I could get 15% I would order now! Well tomorrow anyway.. Would you mind sharing your contact or at least asking if they would do the same discount for others?

It really wasn't difficult. I got similar prices from many dealers.

From memory, nearest ones to you that quoted me half decent prices were Liverpool Audi and Coventry Audi. Get a quote from carwow, and when they respond, tell them you want it for less.

Currently doing that, cheapest so far on there is 12% doesn't seem like anyone willing to do much more...

12% was the best I got on carwow. I just moved them on from there. Ask them for a actual quote on hp or pcp, and then tell them it's to much. You just have to ask. If they won't do it, walk away, and try again next week.

Don't forget you're right in the middle of '16 plate mania at the moment so sales people are pretty busy dealing with customer after customer that's willing to accept the 12%.

Yeh I'm in no rush neither so will try a few and then leave a week or so thanks... Where did you end up ordering from?

Drop me a PM, and I'll share some of the quotes I got with you. Barring a couple of oddities, such as one branch of the same dealership offering me 12% off, when the other branch 15 miles away "couldn't" get anywhere near that price, I could have got the same deal from any one of half a dozen dealers.

Buying new cars is becoming ridiculously easy. Some dealers now have sales staff dedicated entirely to Internet sales, and they seem to be afforded some reasonable leeway when it comes to pricing. They'll never tell you this, but much of the potential leeway comes from the fact that if they sell to you on pcp they get to reclaim the VAT (or at least a fair chunk of it). This gives them some fairly significant room for manoeuvre, without affecting their margins to much.

Currently, Audi will "contribute" £2.5k to a three door S3, but only £1k to a sport back. If you don't need five doors, this is a very compelling reason to go for the 3 door.
