DSG OIL & FILTER CHANGE VIDEO! DIY EASY

I will make this a sticky

May seen a silly question but is this procedure what Audi would do if my car went for a DSG oil and filter change to the dealership?

Yes mate exact same apart from them using a bottom fill method with a fancy tool plugged into the sump so they can pump it in quicker.

Mines booked in at Audi tomorrow, would you think this would help the judder in drive 2 which I here a lot of people suffer with

Could do or it could be signs of something else..not too sure mate
Cheers for the response.
Got my car back and it turns out mine is the dry 7 speed DSG so didn't need doing

@TimWills28 so once it gets to 35 degrees C you let it drain out until it stops which means it is level with the snorkel and that's the correct fill level?

Judder in 2nd is clutch packs, it's common I think.

Yes that is correct! But it won't stop dripping, it will go from a small flow to a drop probably within 30 seconds..after that it will drip don't wait for it to stop fully

The reason the filter is different. Is the Pall Corp don't make the filters for the vag group any more. Well not in the UK we made then in Newquay but stop making them before summer.

Thank you :)

Is there any reason why it won't completely stop dripping?

Reason being is that there is a pump or something that goes off every 30-60 seconds and drips some fluid out which could confuse people that's why they say to plug it up after it slows down to a trickle after you first pull out the plug

Right looked in to this today at work we had to make 10 years worth of stock for the vag group to finish the contract. and by the looks of it changed the design for cost.

Cool thank you :)

You did stop the engine or not when you did the final check?

Good vid though :)

Nope engine running so the fluid can pump itself at right temperature mate...thanks
Engine was running and when it slows to a trickle you fit the plug back in?

Or warm the oil to 35 degrees C, turn engine off and then do the level check?

Tim, I haven't vcds, how long do I need to run the engine to raise the gear oil temp to 35c ?

I have an IR thermometer already, problem solved, Ta.

Hi guys, I recently bought a second hand audi a3 8p 1.4 tfsi 125 bhp with a 7 speed dsg. Iwz gearbox code. Is this the dry or wet clutch? From what I read the oil must be changed every 40k miles and from the service history I dont see any oil changes and the car is now at 85k km. What brand do you suggest?

Ok thanks! Is this the dry clutch or wet clutch?

Check with an Audi dealer for the correct oil, you don't wanna get that wrong.

I think there aren't any oil changes because it's a dry clutch setup.

No sealed for life oils around. It's For the Life of the Warranty on new cars, as in all other gear boxes.

Did mine this morning, but I used the measure method.

Undid the filter housing, 24mm socket @TimWills28 :whip:
Under the car, undid the 14mm drain plug, used a 10litre container from Homebase (£1.86), then undid the snorkel tube and drained all the fluid.

Then, using a measuring jug, measured out what I had drained - it was 4.5litre
I put a carrier bag in the funnel so nothing could fall into the gearbox whilst I was getting ready to fill it

Added the snorkel tube and drain plug back, the washer is non compression so is reusable.

Refilled 4.5litres using a funnel and some 19mm PC watercooling tubing (£1.99 a metre)

Job done!

Next time just use 4.7 liters for top fill and put everything back. Been proven and tested hundreds of times, you get a perfect level without vcds and going under the car again.
