I recently ordered an A3 and it's due to be built on the 7th March but when I was ordering, I didn't realise that a tech pack gave you a bigger screen display and a better quality sat nav. I emailed the dealer today and they said it's too late to add it, is this true? And is the standard screen and sat nav really bad or will it be ok? I'm worried that I'll hate it as I thought the screens were all 7"

Mine is the same and its ok. Maybe, later we can upgrade it with a cheaper mod

Without getting into the screen debate the orders are generally locked 2 weeks prior to the build date - I'd give emails a miss and get straight on the phone first thing as you're just about border line I reckon. Hope it works out.

I really hope I fall in love with the car and don't hate it as now I've ordered I keep seeing other cars I like but it's probably just because I know I can't l change now. Hmm that's a difficult one - ask them politely (put on a charm offensive) if they wouldn't mind just calling the factory to check.

I'll have to see what I can do, I definitely don't want a re-order, I already feel like I've waited long enough and it's only been about 3 weeks lol! I've only seen the tech pack screen on pictures but the car I saw in the showroom had the standard screen and I did actually think it looked a bit small and dated but like you say, not the end of the world if that's the only down side to the car. I'll be really peed off if they put the tech pack screen as standard on the facelift car, that will tip me over the edge haha.

We may all love our cars, but we can all find faults with this, that and the other. This forum certainly helps will all silliness and pickiness, it is also a great place to get friendly advice. Try not to over think and just enjoy your new car (spoken by the man who hasn't stopped worrying his own spec since buying it).

I have standard nav and it's no bother at all. Never seen the fancy screen so don't miss it.

I am like you Natalie. I ordered my a3 before xmas. Just with standard sat nav. Didn't even realize a bigger screen was an option. Ever since I have wondered if I have made the right choice now I know you can get bigger. Lol. Arrives next week. Couldn't really push the budget any higher though really.

Chances are you will be too busy enjoying the drive to really notice! If you don't use nav a lot, then more than likely you will have the screen tucked away anyway?

If you really really want it, then your best cancelling your order, although you've waited 3 weeks, it's better to wait another 3 than have years of not being happy?

I would stick with it though if I wanted a nice screen, I would buy a new tv

I know that's what I was thinking, because I know what I'm like and if one thing isn't right the whole thing isn't! But I really don't want to cancel the car, it's so rubbish I wish I'd have known when I ordered and I was worried that they would use it against me that I'd cancelled an order if I did change it?

I didn't realise until after I bought my a5 that it didn't have phone Bluetooth connectivity and 2 years in it still annoys me every time I get in it. They won't because at the end of the day all they want to do is keep u happy and sell u a car to earn their commission

Hmm I don't know what to do I'm really stuck because some people are saying it doesn't matter and in the back of my mind I know it does matter but of course I don't want to cancel. I just don't know.

The thing with forums is that everyone has an opinion on what they like and prefer its down to you! I was the same regretting not having the bsp and the b and o now I have my car Im more than happy with what I have got, there will always be things you look at and say wish I had that and would take forever to lock your order in.

This is exactly how I think too, unless I die, there will be something else. In 3 years when I change my car, there will be bigger screens and better quality sat navs, if I changed everytime something better was there, I'd never have anything lol.

The hardest decision I had to make on my car was the color. I spent lots of time chopping and changing between black and white. In the end you have to go with your gut and your wallet. Lol. Although I have added rubber mats and the bumper protective strip thing (dog might scratch bumper) to mine since it was locked. Lol.

at first I had to look really hard to distinguish the basic spec from the upgrade.
yeah you can tell for sure, but the standard screen does look perfectly acceptable tbh.
am I right in thinking the upgrade screen does not use all of the screen as the 'ratio' looks similar to that of the standard screen ?

funnily enough, when I have test driven the cars I tended to put the screen down anyway when I didn't need to view what was on there.
of course you will keep it up when listening to music etc I'm sure.

Aww thank you so much for these pictures, it's really good of you. I can tell the difference and obviously the bigger screen looks better and more defined but at least I've got some sort of screen! Haha. Not much I can do now anyway so I'm sure the smaller screen will be fine.
