Better than the Sportback version, but not by much.
Picture doesn't look real either.

400bhp sounds like it's worth the wait for.

Not a fan of the new front end as its just like the new A4. Saw one of those on the road the other and its a very boring Lazy design very much in the style of the new passat.
On the plus side the new design chief Marc Lichte says there is a whole new top down design coming through starting with the new A8.
He has also been quite scathing on the current new designs including the new Q7 and A4.
Pity the A3 has been updated by the current guy and not the new one.

I agree that Audi done goofed with the production RS3. As others in this thread already mentioned, they had it all there with the A3 Clubsport Quattro and they just had to make the North American RS3 (sedan) different from the European RS3 (hatchback).

But lets take a look again at front fascia downgrade from the RS3 Concept (A3 Clubsport) and the RS3.

That's a frickin concept car with a wider track than a frickin Olympic stadium *** lol of course it's going to look better, Audi had a larger canvass to work with.

Am confident most of us will really like it,the Geneva motor show is just over 2 weeks away hopefully we see the new facelift then, with my last 2 cars/forums av been through 2 facelift car models St and RCZ, they both where better looking in the end.

Not so sure that photo is the RS3 sedan.

lol at the comments in this thread.

I'm shocked about a lot of things so far.

First, that there's only 2 leaked photos of the production RS3 sedan (I only posted the other pic I found on carscoops, the author posted when people kept saying it was an A4).

Second, the massive downgrade this RS3 sedan got from the Clubsport Quattro A3.

I know some people love that "honeycomb" grill, even to a point of buying those aftermarket RS3 versions and replacing out their stock A3/S3 grills. But if one is to closely examine that hc grill like I have, you will see that the honeycomb grill (as pictured on this RS3) is just a mere cheap solution/or downgrade from the full black fish scale like grill shown on the A3 Clubsport Quattro Concept in this thread and the Audi Sport Quattro Concept (google it).
Those concept grills look >>>>>>>>>>>miles..kilometers >>>>>>>>>>>>>> than the cheap honeycomb grill that you can look right through it from a far and see the radiator behind it.

4th, Audi didn't put any extra body kit to the A3 for this Production RS3, it is as narrow as the A3 in the front. Look how its exhausts intakes are small compared to the A3 Clubsport.

5th, the front fascia design for the facelift is atrocious, and there's nothing positive that can be said about it. The lines on the A3 were perfect on it's lower bumper grill. There was no need to redesign it, in fact that's what made the A3 Clubsport Quattro looked nice is that they added more kit to it.

Photo taken from the audience of an artist impression on a screen. None of the body lines match anything, inaccurate grill background, mismatch of panels.

Edit - no I'm not sure but neither is anyone else ;)

You're right Warwick. If you look at the original photo the front end dimensions are all wrong. The right light cluster is closer to the 'camera' than the left and yet the front right of the car looks smaller!

Case closed, it's a botched artists impression. Will await some accurate info :)

Does this mean there's still hope on the RS3 sedan actually coming out looking like the A3 Clubsport?

& if this is just an artist impression, hopefully Audi seen this and seen the backlash that this ugly mock up caused and thus we won't get that car.

Yeah the rims for a start
The wheel arches are far acute nothing gradual about them as is the body panel gaps around the wing/bumper a great waste of a stunning colored saloon mate

Yeah agreed, there's some continuity problems in the seams, also round the front end of the bonnet but the overall shape is stunning in my opinion. Wheel arches do need smoothing out too.

RS3 Sedan is going to be in the range of 55 to 60 thousand dollars.
Another option----- RS3 specific racing bucket seats.

Much better. They're all handsome boys!
Really to be honest you don't have to be Einstein to visualise how it's going to look ye just have to look at the new A4 and TT ir will be the exact same

The A3 Clubsport was just that, it was never a concept RS3 saloon. People hoped it was, but the fact was confirmed as soon as the sportback was unveiled.

Not so sure that photo is the RS3 sedan.

It IS the new RS3 sedan:

"When we reached out to Audi spokeswoman Amelia Fine-Morrison, she confirmed it is indeed the upcoming RS3." - Car and Driver

Ergo, we've seen the new front end on the facelifted cars. For me, it was always about what they'll bring to the interior - the lovely TT steering wheel and virtual cockpit are surely a given.

VC is an abomination - adds nothing.

Audi need to focus on the steering, suspension and dynamics

A TT wheel, lol, seriously not important

ha! It's an phone pic of a poster/powerpoint. To me it doesn't look much different from what we've got now - that's what the facelift was always going to be. In reality it will look fresher and more desirable than the outgoing model. Those lights will no doubt look sexier when you see them in full matrix mode. The virtual cockpit and cabin tweaks will also awe people who test drive it.

Everytime there's a new model people complain about it being inferior/uglier than the current model. I remember plenty of people on here completely despising the 8v when it came out, despite it being superior in every way to the old car.

Just to contradict myself... there's two ways my old A3 beats my current one.

1)being able to turn on the fogs with a twist of the lighting knob without fiddling about trying to locate those two awkward buttons.

2) being able to see the time on my dash when CC is enabled.

Otherwise, it's infinitely better.

You're stating what's important or preferential to you. People have different tastes, hence why they offer multiple engines, trims, body-styles and options.

And it's not a zero-sum game. They can change those elements I've suggested without any effort, while spending years tweaking those things you mentioned.

No I'm stating what is important to a car in this category

As everyone has noted, perhaps except yourself, it has glaring gaps in those critical areas

I suffer them because we don't drive the car to the degree that those issues cause concern.

The A3 has been the best selling car in it's category in the past 2 years, so it's obviously impressing customers. If it's doing this whilst having 'glaring gaps' it would suggest that the areas it excels in (interior and refinement) are a serious factor. Whether a gimic or not, the virtual cockpit is wowing buyers and reviewers, so far.

The current interior is huge part of why I chose the A3 over a 1 series, A-class and golf. I do motorway miles while on CC, and the dynamics of the 8V are perfectly fine for that. Other factors, like cabin quality are more significant to me.
