Hi has anyone on here washed their car and when it has dried the paintwork looks like it has the effect of smoke damage.I have got a small area of the smoke effect off with Autoglym tar remover but I am asking if anyone can tell me if there is another product that will remove this smoke effect.Paintwork is Ibis white so it showed up quite vividly.
I had the car on a rolling road last week and maybe with it being indoors the fumes settled on the car or it is just road film.Look forward to someone shedding some light on this.
Thanks.

I have taken some photo's but they don't show up what you can see with the eye.Like I say i removed some of it with tar remover which left the cloth filthy.I was just wondering whether tar remover would be ok for the whole car or whether there is a better product.

Yep tar remover is fine for the whole car. Just rewash afterwards. Pro detailers often go over the whole car with Tardis which is a tar remover. I'd try polish on a patch though if you have some as probably more cost effective.

Thanks for your advice,I will try the polish next time it is dry.

Hi scotty I have just cleaned the car with tar remover and re-washed and dried with micro fibre towel and it looks good now. Thanks for advice, was going to polish it but it looks like it may rain before I get finished but at least the grime is now off.

Its not water marks is it Ollie? Do you live in a hard water area?

Glad it worked out.
Hi Scotty just a little update on what I think may have caused the smoke effect on my car bodywork.I have a thread on the 8p section showing my rather worn tyres so I think they were disintegrating on the rolling road session I had the other week. With the car being inside and a big fan blowing I think the carbon off the tyres settled on the car.
