I done my cambelt/waterpump, new cam follower and a few other maintenance things back in October last year.

I think the parts cost me around £120-ish IIRC..

However I get good discount at my local TPS and they had a special offer on the cambelts at the time.

I done all the work myself so I cant quote how much labour it cost me but it's around a 3-4 hour job give or take a little..

@Craig-P cheers, nice one... I know about the cam and water pump, £400 (with good parts) but want the cam follower done too, not sure of the effort...

I'm gonna attempt the DV swap myself when I get to it... a big step for me, every jobs a first time job! :sadlike:

I was 490 quid for my cambelts/Thermostat/Fitting DV and cam follower

@tonydata - How mechanically minded are you..? Fitting a new cam follower isnt that hard.

If you want to try it yourself I'll be happy to help you out as much as possible....

Tbh @Craig-P, I'd be too nervous about cocking it up! I'm going to do the dv soon, when I get a gfb, so maybe after that I'll think about next job being a bit bigger... Cheers though :sunglasses:

What is that hose you have ordered, just out of interest? And also does the different ignition coils make any difference?

Soz for thread hijack, what clutch kit is that? I'm currently running a loba Sachs SMF combo. And I hate it.

Do you mind me asking what's wrong with the setup? is the SMF that's the problem? I'll need a new clutch very soon and trying to find the best solution vs. price.

Sachs organic, treated right,is rated to 400lbs,and may take a little more.
Mine ran up until 440lbs.

There are a few early failures, not all related to heavy use,so be aware of that.

Some SMF setups(esp Loba/Sachs combo) have had issues with clutch disengagement at high rpms, and all will give a degree of chatter at idle.
The best for absolutely bullet-proof rating, and stock feel is the Spec Stg3+,but again is an SMF so it does produce some chatter at idle.
Also not cheap.

Avoid paddle type clutches like the plague.....they are a pain to use around town,or on hill starts.

I know I'm not really adding any value here...but...DSG !! Lol :p

It's the loba SMF that is the problem, I think other smfs are OK. It doesn't disengage properly at high rpm 6400+. I put it some solid engine mounts which has made shifting easier but its not perfect still.

Hi @Craig-P, had a really good quote from an indy vag guy but, want to see if I can get it even lower by supplying the parts... any chance you have the parts/part #'s needed for the cambelt/water pump change? Perhaps these:

Water pump - three to choose from...
Timing belt kit - couple to choose from...

Anything else?

Had mine fitted yesterday , amazed at how easy to use it is yes it's expensive but will cope with any abuse I Chuck at it and any power I Chuck at it,
If cost is a problem you can always go for the stage 2 or stage 2+ option

Haha yeah Steve said it was the one to have , said he had a few of the Sachs that he couldn't get out of gear ! But he did say the loba was better even though the flywheel looked exactly the same

Steve and a few of the other guys incl Shaun have driven my car and all were pleased with that clutch.
To say that it's been on the car for around 40k miles now,and is fine with 540lbs is a testament to it's durability too.

The big Red hose is a Dump Valve hose, It serve's no benefit apart from looking better.

The coils again are mainly just to look better and to go with me Red theme, Although I believe they have slightly different resistance..?

Snap....hard to believe how long I've had this thing on my car for,and never had to do anything since, which is pretty unusual for me.

Really has been fit and forget,from 440lbs on a GT3071,to 550lbs on a GTX3582....

Is It SMF..? Lightened..?

Are they uprated flywheel bolt's or standards..?

It's a smf comes with race bolts ,
I went with a steel flywheel but you can have an alley one ,reason for me choosing the steel was it should be bulletproof

Just look on there website all info on there comes with everything u need release bearing etc race bolts etc etc
