DTM register / owners thread

Hi guys, please redirect me if this is purely a register... As I do not yet own a dtm. However if in the correct place, am looking...
Does any body have any particular pointers for these vehicles, or is it literally read this entire thread? Lol.
One thing I would like to ask... Does the bonnet always look like its 'off the latch' ? As in you have pulled the lever and that is all?
Any help comments would be greatly appreciated...

Re the bonnet. With an original chrome framed grille it fits just fine, however some after market black grilles are 2/3mmm shorter hence the gap.

I was looking at this black honeycomb grille but have been informed that it will be 2mm shorter than stock. May not sound much but its all in the detail.

Mate I'd be cheeky & see what he'd charge for a full re spray lol.

Not having too much joy with my car it needs slave cylinder, clutch & flywheel. Ouch! Need to remove the lead in my foot.

Thats really funny about your mate doing the spraying...as far as the clutch....not so funny but i cant say anything bad about the service or products i received from usp motorsport.

I would love to be able to afford the uprated clutch & flywheel, but I think I'm gonna have to go for oem. I get an awesome discount from all parts. £500 inc VAT for clutch kit, flywheel master cylinder, slave cylinder, bolts & gearbox oil LUK. This car owes me big time.

Just be careful that you wont need a replacement again few thousand miles down the line thats why i went for the upgrade and the difference its made is astounding

I am thinking to get all the above but try & find a performance clutch instead of oem. Did u get yours from USA & do u know of any companies over here that do performance clutch's? How's your car J, are you gonna remap it, any other mods planned?

As far as im aware but im sure there is other companies...APR sell the performance clutches but they get their clutches from USP Motorsport so they are only the middle man. Yeah mine came from the states but if you find somewhere over here let us know about them please ☺. Yeah its been mapped and tweaked a little then got the exhaust an filter. Cant decide on 100 or 200 cell cat next then k04 time (fingers crossed) haha

Hi J, just an update on my clutch issue.

It turned out the clutch plate had snapped, so my mechanic has replaced clutch, bearing & flywheel. I've gone for standard setup due to costs & waiting time on the updated sach clutch. The car is now back as it was but with a lower biting point. I will be cruising the car for a couple hundred miles before the lead foot returns.

I got a really good deal on a LUK clutch kit, flywheel & bolts, £350 inc VAT. While my mechanic was doing that he also done the oil pick up pipe, a small coolant leak & brake bleed all for £350. I think I done well there, if you're ever in need of parts or looking for a good mechanic give me a shout dude, I'd be happy to help.

I'm already thinking about the next move lol.

Hi all not posted for a while but just received a bit of bad news on my car from AUDI Manchester, the clutch is slipping & cam chain tensioner requires investigation and may require replacing or maintenance also investigation of a couple of small leaks from oil /coolant, I've been told this could cost roughly £2500 or more, so I'm obviously not impressed would love a brand new car but don't want to pay out all the money will post an update once I get the report !!

If u need help with parts I may be able to get u a good discount. Good luck dude, I've probably spent close to nearly 2k since owning the car for 4months.

Had the call today from Audi - clutch & flywheel & vaccum pump to be replaced £2200, also need the rear anti roll bar replacing approx £200, so not a cheap month this month, CARS !!!!!

Yeah fingers crossed mate. I only did the pick up pipe as a precaution. Next on the list is to finish off painting the brake calipers in black. Ive been looking at door blades, you can get the s line or s4 types. Do you know of the blades & what do you think of them, would you fit them?

Where are you located Jimmy? If I was you I would source the parts myself & get a good mechanic to fit them. You could save loads of money! If your changing the rear anti roll bar, you may as well fit the one from the rs4. Its a popular mod, or you could go for aftermarket & it will improve handling. Me personally I would never use the audi dealers as they charge so much.

p.s what is the vacuum pump?

Hi I've already committed & instructed Audi to repair my vehicle I know I'm paying more, but I've had bad experiences using other garages, I'm having a coolant gasket replaced & oil pump leak investigated also as previously mentioned clutch & flywheel replaced, rear anti roll bar replaced. Oh and 4 x new tyres Dunlop sport max RT from other suppliers.

According to the web - a vacuum pump controls various components using vacuum pressure, a worn/faulty vacuum pump can cause miissfires affect the brakes / servo & more !! - please note I'm no mechanic just research on web

Not happy about all costs as I was thinking of selling the car, but now I'm gunna keep to get my money's worth, also keep it for weekend use & OEM projects & repairs. I still think the DTM's look fantastic-just need a few touch ups and some carpet cleaner for the alcantara and it will feel great !

Hi mate, noticed you said your car was being repaired under the corrosion garentee, is this free of charge and how did you go about sorting it out?

On both my front arches the inner lip is starting to rust, I treated them and covered with silver hammerite as they can't be seen unless you remove the wheels but I noticed the day after audi serviced my car and cleaned it that two bubbles are now visible under the paint on the front arch which can be clearly seen, pic below.

Not sure if they've jet washed it or not but Question is you think they'd repair mine?

Catch Up!

I have PM'd you

What do we think about getting dtm's there?

Hi J, hope all is well with u & ur car?

Would be an idea mate, I'd be up for it. It would be cool if we could do a mini meet before then. Let's see if we can get DTM interest.

Car is good thanks how is yours have you put the coilovers on yet and the map put on? Ill be goin to the show either way but be good to see other dtms

M8 I think u got me confused with sunny lol.

I'm good dude & my cars going alright, Im already lowered on h&r springs & remapped. I'm gonna look at fitting a pioneer DVD player with Bluetooth next, I may also get amp & woofer.

When the weather gets better it'd be cool to do a DTM meet. I will ask around the DTM owners for interest closer to spring/summer. Take it easy fella!

these things

Wozza,

Count me in for a DTM meet.
Question, how are you finding the overall ride now that your on h&r springs? Have you caught the front splitter on any kerbs yet?
Have you got the h&r part no. for the springs that you have installed.?

Ill be fitting an 034 Motorsports RARB and new front grille in a few weeks. Never liked the chrome grille surround.
Tx

Oh and then the clutch.
I found this performance kit as I am considering staying Dual Mass
(though if anyone has gone single Mass with no clutch chatter then i could be convinced..?)

Hi sonny, I don't know too much about these dv adaptors. But I think they hold boost when changing gear & also make it more reliable when it comes to boost loss. If your at stage 2 with the higher boost levels then it's worth doing I reckon. U could also go for the gfb which is similar item. I'm running stage 1 & have only fitted the Rev d valve which also holds boost better than the standard valve. If I do go for a higher tune I will get the gfb adaptor. If u do get it fitted let us know the outcome.

Hi mate, cool we will get as many of us DTM together soon.

The ride has actually improved over standard, sounds strange but it's true. Sorry I haven't got the part no's but I fitted the 45mm Quattro ones. The car doesn't sit too low, the top of the tyres line up with the arch. I don't drive up kerbs now tho, & I take it easy over speed bumps. Fingers crossed I've not scraped the spoiler.

Get that grill done mate, the chrome is pants, don't forget the boot strip.

The arb will make a good difference, I've never driven one without so I can't tell u how much of a difference, but going by reviews it's one of the best bang for buck mods for our motors.

I was gonna go for the exact clutch setup but couldn't wait for delivery times as the car was off the road & my mechanic needed the parts quick. I also got a great deal on standard flywheel & clutch kit.

I'm gonna hold back on power mods for a while. I may fit an induction kit & then concentrate on ICE.

Take it easy dude!

Sorry mate i did get u confused to much going on haha. As for the diverters im not to sure but very interested in the outcome as want to do mine but dont know which to go for. But the single mass flywheel i highly recommend did fair few weeks ago now and it made such a difference i was told to fit a dampr pulley to reduce clutch chatter so i did and i dont get any. Hope this helps and look forward to meeting up this spring/summer.
