anyone on here tinted a4 cab which is black?
i cant make my mind up if it suits the car!
what does everyone think?

Only if you tint the fronts .

Don't like the tell tale line around the edge anymore , my preference is Privacy Shades now .

Why ever not ?

You could sellotape them to the glass

I wanted to tint my A4 Cab, but i drove a cheaper can for a few months i could not see feck all out of the back windows in the night. Put me right off to be honest.

How do i know !!
A few years ago i bought a car which already had tints, pulling out of an angled junction one night i had to look between the seats & look out of the rear door window, i couldn't see the cyclist, nearly killed him.
Tints were off next morning.

so its a no no with 70% all round then?

I have had tints/privacy glass (OEM) on my current and previous vehicle and I am a big fan.

As long as the tint level is the same as OEM, you should be fine.

Hi 8h3tdi,

Good timing as I got my B6 cab done last week. Its silver with a blue hood.

Originally got 35% tints all the way around. This is considerered a lighter tint. I could see perfectly during day and it was ever so slightly 'darker' during night fall.

However, It was simply too dark for me as i dont actually like the 'tinted look'. I like the smoked look.

Replaced them with 50% tints and love them! They are ever so slighlty tinted but with just enough tint to give it the 'high end' look.

For people that mention there is no point in getting 50% tints, this simply isnt true. Its quite subtle but looks the business.

Sorry I dont have pics for 35% tints but can provide pics for my current 50% tints.

Hope this helps in your decision making.

Pictures of 50s then....thought you would of posted it anyways lol

Yeah sorry about that. I've not taken any yet! Will take one tomorrow and upload!

Here you go mate..

Quick photo of 50% tints all the way around.

Things to note are that in person, you can see through the windows fine with a bit of 'privacy' .

They will also be lighter when the sun is out, but again perfect for what I like.

Made me paranoid so i checked

Paint is right colour

thank you, looking good.
slightly confused tho!
I was looking at getting 75% light transmission, the lightest standard tint. is that the one you had? or did you get the one up from limo tint?

think im tempted to buy couple of sheets of each off ebay and stick em on and see what i like before i take the plunge.

Sorry for the delay. Work etc.

I've got 50% tints like the one on your chart. This means it lets in 50% light. The higher the number the more it 'let's in' light.

The thing is, tints always show up differently in different light.

At night time, they look very tinted.

During the day, Slightly tinted giving it a smoked look.

With the sun shining, ever so slightly tinted.

This is what I like. Going for 75% tints is so light it would be very hard to notice they have been done at all.

Hope this helps

Not a fan of this tbh. Reminds me of the first five minutes when folks who wear them expensive glasses that tint in sunlight come back into the office and look like wearing sunglasses indoors!

Haha! True.

But not mine. I like very light tints. Not interested in actual privacy..im doing it purely for looks I must be honest. :p

Just wanted to give my experience. Gone for about 50% tinted on the back and rear set up. Looks great from a distance. Really makes a difference on the avant. But up close the dot matrix silvering does annoy me and the orange defroster lines and radio aerial lines have become very prominent. However, i can put up with that. The worst thing by far is the light refraction across the defroster lines at night. Very distracting for someone with ocd like me! Anyone got an actual proper privacy glass back screen panel for sale??

To be honest, yes,I can imagine this being an issue if you have OCD. Im not sure you can get around this unless you spend LOTs of money with say 'Pilkington glass' to get this 'properly' done.

I dont think anyone would have such an item for sale, but could be wrong!
