Hello,

Not long have I had my new A3 and it's been perfect....up until today of course. I'm having problems with my MMI. So I try to connect my iPhone like normal (via cable and Bluetooth) but even though it says it's connected it will be stuck "loading" on the MMI screen. I wait a couple of minutes and it's still doing the swirling loading thing so decide to see if I can play from my phone. It works! So it plays when using my phone to change tracks and also on my shortcut button on the steering wheel.
The problem however is when I try using the MMI control pad to play/change tracks. When I push down to play/select a track, everything stops and I can't play any music I'm trying to select anymore. Also as illustrated in the photo I took a strange time/digits appears next to the tracks of 999:59??? Also I've noticed a symbol at the top of the screen that represents arrows circling a some kind of sheet?! That hasn't appeared before I don't believe.
It's so strange how this has suddenly happened tonight as it had been working fine since day one...any ideas on how to fix?
Cheers
Ken

Mine does some wierd things at times - if my iPhone is connected via the cable, and I select Media from the buttons in the centre console, it shows 2 tracks. Go up a level to the Media menu and select Playlists and they all appear. Only happened since I swapped my iPhone4S to an iPhone6.
One thing I have found with iPhone is if you switch the phone on in the morning but don't unlock it at least once before plugging it into the cable, the whole thing goes into a huff and won't show directory or anything. I also seem to get off variances on occassion when Mr Apple updates iOS.

I bet you'll find if you reconnect the phone now everything will work OK. Strange thing Audi MMI at times..............

Yup, it will probably fix itself tomorrow! But In any case I'll keep trying but the annoying thing is I couldn't see what the symbol meant in any of the manuals so no help at all! Ive even emailed Audi to see if they can shed some light on it....but I'm hoping the Audi community will be far quicker to respond and more knowledgable!

Love my car but this is the one pain for me. Iphone 6 on Tech pack with white cable which skipping tracks on spotify or deezer it goes straight to a podcast...grr I tried swapping cable to a yellow collar and same result. It doesn't happen via blutooth though. No answers for you lauster23 but I feel your frustration on that one!Let us know what Audi says.

My Audi contact called me today! He said the MMI can be a bit temperamental and he has experienced similar issues himself.....so his advice was to poweroff/down your iPhone and simply restart your phone and this should work. Apparently this works for him so I'm going to try it later and update on here but whether it solves your issue mikeyvee I'm not sure but could be worth a go maybe?
Oh also the little symbol apparently means it's on a repeat track..? I don't remember ever selecting this option when listening to my music so it's a mystery why it's suddenly appeared. Anyway, I'll see how I get on tonight....

It works !! Hopefully won't need to do this too often but at least we know how to get around it if ever anyone else has a similar issue.

Odd. I basically see the same behavior with the newer yellow MMI cable. Can't skip forward or back.

Hi Lauster,

I was going to suggest turning your phone off and on, it's how I fix mine. I think it's the only downside I've found since taking order in October. It can be very temperamental, it even crashed the first time I tried using it! Not going to let it affect me though! Hope you are loving the car otherwise!

Don't get me wrong. I love this car. S3 has been fantastic for me. This drives me nuts though. Bought the loaded car and this should not be an issue.

You reset the phone every time you plug it in? I have reset with no luck it seems but not right when I plug it in.

Hey

Yup still love the car and (touchwood) I haven't experienced the problem since! I do agree that we pay an X amount for our pride and joy we should expect a simple bit of tech to not have any issue....

But yes I simple turned off and on my phone once and never had to repeat the trick again. I suggest if it keeps giving u grief to take it back to the dealers and demand they look into it for ya! Good luck!

Also on a side note... If I listen to a playlist from my phone, is there any way to shuffle the songs in it via MMI??

I just turn it off and on again. Sometimes switch the ignition off, take the cable out and then try again but this has a lower success rate.

Not that I've found, not for an iPhone anyway. Only way is I select the playlist I want on my phone before plugging in, once it plays, press the shuffle button on the iPhone and it will shuffle the list from there. You can then use the MMI to select the song in the playlist and it keeps the same shuffled list.

Weird though as my missus' iPod has a shuffle option in the MMI settings!

Sadly it didn't work for me turning off and back on. Same issue.
