OK so a load of people come here and ask what options they should get when buying a new car, so on that note what options did you get and the thought "I could have done without that" or don't use.

For me: Regrets on the options I have = None

(No need to list what you have, just what you wouldn't get again).

Hold Assist. Tried it for a few days and decided I prefer how the s-tonic works without out, so it has remained switch off ever since. Otherwise quite happy with all the other options.

Yeah hold assist is a bit of a waste of time. Not sure I'd bother with reversing camera either, occasionally useful but not like I can't park without it !

Hold Assist.
(Hate it with a passion, hinders more than assists)

Tech Pack.
(Really don't use it for what it costs, SD Nav would have been fine)

S3
(That's a whole seperate debate ;) )

ACC because it makes you look like a paranoid learner that can't read the road.

I went from a fully loaded RS5 to a S3 manual with no options.
Had reversing sensors retro fitted, but don't miss anything at all.
Options are nice to haves, but when you drive a car without them it takes a matter of days to adjust and you've soon forgotten why they were "must haves".
It actually improves the experience of the S3 to have a manual with no extras IMO.
(To qualify my opinion, I now have a saloon, so some options for others are standard for me).

I do miss the looks, the engine, the AWD system and the way the RS5 drives, but these are options you can't spec on the S3 anyway.

Audi connect front parking sensors
That's it love the rest

I don't 'regret' any options ordered but one year into ownership of a well specced S3 I'm looking at what my next car will be.

There are several options that I will not wish to do without. A few that I will certainly not shell out for in future - ACC (constantly having to anticipate for its inadequacies so it can become tedious in use), Lane Departure (another nannying option but I had to have it to get the road sign recognition that I specifically wanted).

Not so much of a regret but something I could definitely live without is the reversing camera, I never use it and having front and rear parking sensors and using mirrors is more than adequate. There is a few things I wish I did spec but oh well maybe next time.

No , none . Like them all.
In fact the other option I might consider in the future us the mag suspension . Though it does seem expensive...

It wasn't an option because it came
with the car. I never use cruise control.

No regrets at all ...EDIT AFTER @Simon L TOLD ME OFF.....:tearsofjoy:

Least useful is adaptive headlights, could live without em but they do work and improve vision

No regrets at all ...comfort pack, folding mirrors, interior light pack (absolutely no regrets ..), Audi sound system, hold assist (is great on manual IMHO), side assist, adaptive headlights.

Dave, what did the OP say about not listing the options you like again??!!...................:whistle2:

SD sat nav. Free app on phone is far superior. Rip off at £450

Yeah but taping yer phone to the dash kinda spoils the look of the interior! lol

I say none, because I ordered none - but then our Aus spec S3 can fairly heavily optioned as standard...

Use a couple of bits of Blutac to stick it to the side of the screen and it's just like having CarPlay !

  • SD Nav - It works but phone apps / TomTom units are much much better. Only really got it as it makes the car more saleable at the end.
  • Basic MMI - This DIS screen is higher resolution! I did buy off the showroom floor though so did not have the option of TechPack but will not make this mistake again.
  • Panoramic Sunroof - Hate it as much as I love it! Was expecting it to be bigger but it's just a normal sunroof size opening. I like that it makes the cabin lighter (have black headlining) but I am forever lubing the rubber seals as it rattles when it drys out. Audi say it's a feature and not a fault.

Maybe a bit controversial but on my last car I had LED headlights and I thought they were poor compared to xenon's, so would not have them again.

Sat nav is now free on many spec A3's.
Honestly, I would keep all my options..

That would be a Seat then...??
Yup, a lemon to. It was a nice driver BUT !!!! I've seen thicker paint on my wife's nails which in turn made all the body panels sound a bit "tinny" and don't get me started on the electrics.
In 11 months of ownership it had:
  1. New thermostat
  2. New water pump
  3. New LCD infotainmet screen
  4. 2 x new door cards
  5. 3 x visits for rattles.
  6. ABS sensor
  7. Load sensor (LED lights)
  8. 2 x new seat covers (tore on bolsters)
  9. New ECU component.
Don't get me wrong, cars go wrong and things need repaired but over ten visits to the dealer in 11 months *** !!

Heated Seats - Never use 'em, no real need in this country.

Cruise Control - Never think / need to switch it on.

Lumbar Support Thing - Forgot it's there and the button is out of sight.

Rear View Dimming Mirror - Pain as it just blacks out everything except the car behind's headlights.

Air Conditioning - switch it on once a month to keep the seals and bacteria happy.

Front Parking Sensors - Have to remember to switch them on before hitting the unseen / unknown object. WTF !!

This can be changed in VCDS to auto activate the fronts when you're about 2-3ft away from an object in front - very useful.

To answer the OPs question I don't regret any. Cruise control is least used (which is why I never specced ACC) but comes as a package anyway. Next least is Hold Assist which can be a pain with S-Tronic but for £90 it's worth having to try and is better than having a blanking plug !
