Hi I have an Audi A3 1.4 TFSI 09 plate.

I had a problem where the gearbox it seemed the gearbox was struggling to select first second and third but the rest of the gear were fine. I got it cheked out and the Synchronizer Rings are the problem. So I'm now thinking DSG

Is there a DSG gearbox that will fit my car, manual prefrebly? If so what code is it?

I have no knowledge on DSG gearboxes if im honest. All I know is they are a gearbox lol.

If I need to retrofit one then yes Im looking to retrofit

Firstly, the synchros and selector forks are a well known issue, and can easily be sorted.
A full gearbox rebuild if it was needed would be around £800,and anything else would cost less.

If you're seriously talking about a DSG conversion, then read these first.

It's not cheap,and not simple,and I simply wouldn't think it's cost effective for you.

It needs to be sourced, fitted, and then interfaced with your existing ECU and software.
As you'll see it's not exactly plug and play.

The box itself will be at least £800 even from a breaker, and upwards of £2k for a decent rebuilt and guaranteed one,and then all of the above......

As Alex said, I wouldn't bother with the DSG conversion.

A decent gearbox specialist will be able to do a recon/rebuild for you.

By the way, @S3Alex do you know if synchro are common on the DSG box too? I reckon 2nd gear synchro on mine is fecked...

I'm afraid I don't know about that but all are wear items I guess.

Retrofitting the DSG box, shifter & steering wheel is easy... It's the wiring that needs the attention and a specialist to do the ECU reflash. If you're confident in those areas or have help available then i don't see why not. I'd do it again if I was in the same situation again.

I understand, but in this case I'd be thinking about costs as well.

I'm making steps to do this, but for very different reasons.

I just think for a relatively simple rebuild it would be silly to start retrofitting a DSG box.

I agree, I'm not taking costs into consideration.... You can't take it with you :superman:
