That's ***** mate! Sorry to hear it but on a plus note, you got a diff cheap and if it works then it's all good, and if it doesn't, then your eliminating the issue and you can sell the one you bought!

The diff arrived but completely different to what was posted.
The one i should of had covered 13k and the one i got looked like it covered 150K , rusty and with blue paint all over it !
Spoke to pay pal and they have withdrawn the money from the account and put on hold until he responds to the claim.
Annoying but confident i will get my money back and he can arrange picking it up himself !

Give him a good punch up for your wasted time and money. Ebay cowboys are everywhere. Sorry to hear that buddy but at least you in a good position to get your money back.
Not ever been an Ebay buyer so doesn't stand well for me using it again moving forward! I'm happy i'm not rushing to get it fitted but just an inconvenience that you don't want!

I had a gut feeling on the weekend something didn't seem right so i messaged him off my work phone pretending to be someone else inquiring about that diff and he said it was still available even though he had dispatched my one! i then messaged him from my personal phone and blagged him that someone from a forum had been speaking with me as they wanted a diff and he had offered the same one ..his reply.... "i have loads mate"

I think these guys really don't care.
They pop up,sell some dodgy or "not accurately described" gear and then just disappear when the heat is on...
Well ..
After reporting to pay pal i got an email from them saying the case is in my favor and i will get a full refund.
However i have to pay for postage! not sure how that is fair but happy i'm getting my money back!

I want!!Another update on the s3 this morning!
Engine cover now fitted! - think will be last thing I do for a small while!

This update is probably the worst to date and in urgent need of some help
Been very quiet as of late as not had the best time at the moment and to top everything off ....
My gearbox bearings in 5th and 6th gear have gone!!
The stealers have quoted me £4097 just for a new dsg gearbox which is not affordable at the moment.
Can anyone help on companies they can recommend for re con boxes or repairs in the SE would be greatly appreciated !

Hey Alex...I'm really sorry to hear this.
DSG boxes....
The DSG-Dokter is the place to go.
Decked has experience of their work,and was very impressed.
They can rebuild,uprate and also modify software,and have both new and used boxes.

They're in the Netherlands unfortunately,but seem to be the best around currently.
There are a few in the UK,but I'd be very inclined to go to these guys.
AMD do have a gearbox specialist,but I don't know if they do DSGs.

Above price with Uprated clutch packs seems the way to go just hope the fitting is not going to be to much.

I Just got myself a 3 door kia rio 1.25 sr7 for 200/month with no deposit as i need a run around . the cost of that plus fuel is cheaper than what i pay for fuel each month for the s3 alone!
I hope the price for fitting is low too! waiting to hear for a few companies!

Tough luck there mate , not heard to many probs with the dsg box ! Fitting wise I'd stick with what u know I.e amd least u know it will be done right

Yep when something goes wrong it's expensive ! Mines heading that way slowly but hoping if I get box problems manuals won't sting so much ! On the plus side it will feel like a rocket after the Kia !,

Truly sorry for you buddy, hope all gets sorted out with the new racing clutch however you only need forged engine to go beyond 500bhp . Thats the positive side of it. Good luck!

Could just be one of them things that would have happened even if it was standard !,can't see u regularly putting massive load through 5th and 6th unless u have moved to a tent on the on ramp of the autobahn
Very surprised you've lost 5th & 6th... (when I read the message you sent me I thought you meant the little bearing on the end of the drive shaft that meets the gearbox). TVS/DSG Doctor are truly the specialists.... Speak to Ronald.

This may be true....my 'box is obviously a manual,but it whined from new in 1st and 5th,and I never really thought much of it as I'd had a seriously noisy box in the Escort.
Anyhow.....over time,and with more torque it got worse,and when the box was stripped and rebuilt,there was a fair amount of brass filings from some of the bearings.
They aren't the toughest parts of the S3.
Right a little update on this - peoples views very welcome.

They know of DSG Dokter and rate them also. But they themselves provide a similar service.
They can rebuild my gearbox with uprated bearings + New mechatronic + New clutch for £2500.
They said they don't find the racing clutch necessary as it can make the ride of the car completely unpractical for day to day use ( this is dependent on me if i use the car just for weekends now?)
They also think DSG software is not needed for the car and they have realised in the past it causes more problems having it in the long run that they cant cure than without. Peoples views on that will help me decide if i should go DSG Dokter or the above company!?

So here is an update that's made my day !
Not going into detail for politeness to the dealer but a big thank you to Audi Tunbridge Wells yet again for the goodwill they are doing on the gearbox I'm getting
Car will be sorted sooner than I think and I still get a kia rio out of it as a run around !
Cars going to get a proper detail ( machine polish) and put under cover to be looked after !
Kia=save more=more audi modifications=more fun
