Why is it so unbelievable that I beat the M3? Remember the M3 is NATURALLY ASPIRATED so I'm sure the 2.0 TDI's has loads more torque than the M3. Mid range the TDI beats M3 anyday. With the M3 you're just paying for the fancy badge
Did you have a remapped 2.0 TDI? If not then maybe the M3 felt a little quicker off the line but anything after that it must feel gutless. No low end torque whatsoever

It's a V8 mate, it's going to have grunt in any gear, at any revs. I used to own a V6 petrol Ford, and it was nigh on impossible to stall it unless you tried deliberately, so I can only imagine what a V8 pulls like.

Not to be a smart *** or anything but its 'their' not 'there'. Fine, I looked up at the 0-60 and 30-70mph times of the M3 and yeah, my bad, its super quick. Didn't realise it had a V8, thought it was one of those in-line 6 engines. Guess that M3 was just playing with me.

This is true, a Stage 2+ S3 is about the same as an E92 M3 below 100mph. Hopefully my next car! That V8 noise

Would love an M3 but have to be a bit sensible at the moment.
Would have had an S3 sportback with dsg but the prices they were looking for with same spec as I have now were just too much.
Maybe next year.

Only a Stage 2+ S3 can keep up with an E9x M3 below 100, above that and the M3 would start pulling away.

And Plasma, all you got on me was a bit of grammar, your such a boffin mate, well done, but a 2.0tdi faster than a M3 that's priceless pal, you needand lots of it, my misses knows more about cars than you mate and that's not much, if you need any advice in the future just ask and don't put down any unfounded ridiculous comments to get ripped apart and make yourself look so stupid that you get down and you mugged yourself off so badly that you could have had some poor young lad going down the pub one night and saying to his mates my car is faster than a M3 in the mid range, he would get laughed at and taken the **** out of so badly that he would never live it down as they would always bring it up for the rest of his life.

Gents, sorry to **** on your bubbles, but take it from someone who knows a bit about both. My S3 was 334bhp, and 497nm torque, and I can happily say that it was quicker to 130 than the M3 was, albeit it was the E93 M3 which was roughly 300kg heavier than the E92.
Have you ever drove an M3, and looked across to the salesman who has a massive grin on his face and utter the words "This is an anti-climax, its gutless and awful". I have.
The M3 is a great drivers car, great handling and a nice V8 sound with looks to die for but if you're looking for power that'll blow you away, buy an RS6.

The M3 still has around 90hp more than you and faster throttle response. I think its because the M3 was a convertible (300kg more) and the driver wasn't using the revs fully.
Also the RS6 compares more to the M5 not the M3.

Saw a BMW E92 M3 on the M1 South. It tried getting ahead of me but couldn't shake off the torque of the 2.0 TDI

Saw an a3 8p in latchford warrington was in my A3 8L you was up my **** the whole time.

Last night, on the Holloway road, a loud S3. Looked grey, with tints. Sure I've also seen the same car near Wembley Stadium a month or so ago.
