MOT Advisories.

Just had the car MOT'd at an Audi dealership. And there's a couple of advisories... One of which I can't get my head around.

OEM Recaro bucket seat... Been in the car since Audi built it in Germany.

Apparently both front seats do not "tilt forward" ??

Everyone getting in my car has trouble finding where the latch is to pull it forward and then to tilt it, but an Audi trained technician can't figure it out and puts it down as an advisory?

Anyone else had this issue or was the bloke just having a bad day??

Sounds like an NT issue. "Tilt" isn't part of the test. The following applies:

• All seats must be secure (generally)
• All seat back rests must be able to be secured in the their normal upright position
• The driver's seat fore aft adjustment must work and lock securely in more than one position

Has this been noted as a "manual" advisory?

There is nothing wrong with the seats though. They do exactly what it is there supposed to do, I've never had any problems with them. The only thing I can think of is, he couldn't find the latch to tilt it forward. As my document states "Both front seats have no tilt function".

There is nothing wrong with the seats though. They do exactly what it is there supposed to do, I've never had any problems with them. The only thing I can think of is, he couldn't find the latch to tilt it forward.

That's my point. The nominated tester that logged your car on for MOT doesn't know the guide that well. He/she shouldn't be tarnishing your record with advisories that are irrelevant/erroneous.

Surely I can go back in through the week and point out to him that what he has put down is a load of tosh?

Can he then print a new certificate and remove the "tilt function" comment?

Took my car to Audi for an mot and it came back with an advisory stating that the rear middle seat belt latch was bent? I have looked in a lot of A3 sportbacks and they all have a bent seat belt latch..I think they all have them from new if anyone can state otherwise let me know...

After finally finding the time to head back in and complain, I took several service technicians outside and neither could work out the seats.

Are these recaros really that hard to understand?

After arguing with them and telling them they're standard Audi seats and they work perfectly. I was then told they couldn't reprint or change my MOT certificate. So what they did is sign the certificate, date it and stamp it. Idiots!

That's BS...I think you should write a complaint to the MD's office of Audi.

In theory, you can't do that either. The MOT, as it is all computerised now, will have to be booked again. Whether the garage decide to carry out a full MOT is up to them, but, to look legit on the system, it will have to look like they have gone through the motions. (Or the computer will say no).

It's BS, certainly, but I got caught out with my last A3. They tested it and because the garage system came up with the original number for the car, (I had since put a cherished number on it), when they printed the MOT, it had the wrong reg number on it and they couldn't re-test it for a week.

I was less than chuffed at that one.
