Lol! It may not look the best but tbh everyone that has looked "under the hood of my car" ;) has wowed at it!

It sounds epic when it growls! But it needs to be black! With the battery cover on just because it looks incomplete without it. Btw Mr @badger5 im on my rounds tomorrow. Will pop through with some form of edible triangular pastry with minced lamb inside.

So I'm dropping the car off to bill this weekend so he can finish off some tweeks here and there and hopefully map when he can squeeze it in.

Recently I've been thinking about the gearbox and its internals. Having a quick read through this site : http://www.vwsyncro.co.uk/data/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2309

Gives some good info for a novice like me. I've no clue when it comes to gearboxes but something seems so mesmerising with them and since I have a spare lying around, I wanted to mess around with that! Now il thinking that will be the box I would like to get done to include some good internals and I'm not really the one to do that (let's be honest). Although I still want to disassemble one to learn more about one.

Anyways that site suggests different 5-6th final drives with higher top speeds. One being 320kmh at 7000rpm which suits a big turbo car better but I'm not sure what other implications this will have on the drive of the car. I think it's the tdi final drive.

Also suggests some updated selector forks and reinforced plates which I have no clue if they're actually needed.

I also found these for some who desire abit of late night reading :)

There is a thread in the FAQs already making a start to cover upgrading the 02M box so this info would be useful there too... I'll quote it in shortly..

The selector forks and plates are covered off in this thread too... there is also mainshaft support available but not sure its really suitable for a road car setup as it requires attention regularly...

02M boxes are strong but selector forks, diff bearings and on the odd occasion casings are the main weak points... if you plan to launch everywhere and you are a gearchange banger then there is a degree of justification to the reinforcement stuff...

I am looking to use the steel forks and maybe the end case plate when I come to build mine...

The final drives thing is something worth investigating too... popular with the R32 turbo boys...

Absolutely, completely, and utterly bonkers Gops!

I think it made 251bhp the day I drove it in 2008 when Joe owned it. Even then it was a good car.

605bhp is just next level insane.

Some of the builds to come out of B5 this year have been mind blowing. Really pushing it to levels that a few years ago we'd all have argued were impossible.

I can't comprehend it! It's silly power that I can't get my head around! This was the limit of flow through the manifold as bill was explaining to me. Maybe a manifold with bigger runners might help peak power but tbh that's for another day, this is enough for me. Maybe one day if bill has a manifold design to go on I'll try it, im always up for these things. But if I'm honest I think this will scare the bejeeeebuzzz out of me! I wish I was there to witness it! For now I will have to just let bill tease me with how it drives whilst I'm on holiday :)

What were you thinking of?...only printable suggestions please.

If it relates to the bhp,that's the daily setting....the final set of horses is in the 2.1 bar paddock!

Storm and Syvecs got somewhere into the low 600s at 2.1bar,without fiddling with the VVT or ignition timing,and then wound it back a bit for the sake of the gearbox,and also the exhaust aft of the downpipe needs a little bit of work at those flow rates.
