Audi Build

I have thought about it but this is my dream car so why spend that kind of money on something you aren't 100% with? I'd rather reorder and wait but still feel I should be compensated as I it isn't my fault. Being the interior it will be shouting at me every time I get in it.

There's a big demand so I think they will make good money on it.

What was the

Hey Jose, was actually asking Normanthedog, so what colour have you gone for this time Jose ? Is the S1 going ?

Oh right, sorry, as you'd quoted me presumed it was aimed at me!

Yea, S1 and vRS are going. Gone for Panther Black with black pack for the stealth look.

They ticked the wrong internal colour scheme basically. Too many options I guess on their system. Order form that I checked showed the correct one so not sure where they fluffed up really.

I presume this was the headliner or stitching? The options are confusing across the range as they show as black/grey/black/black/black but is often shortened so if they accidentally ticked black/grey/black/black/silver it's easily missed. I triple checked this on my SQ5 and S1 order as I spotted how similar the options are. They are seats/stitching/dash/carpet/headliner
It's potentially viewed as trivial, but I know I wouldn't want the wrong one and would be insisting on a new car while I drive the incorrect one.

Apparently the default is all black with grey stitching...or so my dealer told me when I asked him if I had all black for the third time

Problem is they know they will sell it easily, so they dont really care ! They arent emotionally involved !

Very true, but they should be well aware of customer service and doing the 'right' thing for the customer. I would say name and shame if the attitude continues.

I agree with you, see what compo is offered, obviously a genuine mistake is a mistake, but its shoddy and leaves a bad taste.

Difficult decision for the OP, normanthedog !

This was the issue there was no compensation being offered I either took the 'wrong' car or waited until 2016 for the 'right' one. The car hasn't been registered to me so they won't lose out at all I will and it is their mistake so just doesn't seem fair. At close of play they offered £300 and what is looking like March delivery.

Up to you obviously, but I would be making a major complaint to the head of business for that dealership and failing that I would be kicking off big style with Audi UK. Don't take no for an answer as what are you going to lose? If you need to reorder so be it, so make hell as that's still going to be the position even if you don't kick off, so I would kick off and do it with some style, see what you can get.

Audi UK asked me how I wanted this to be resolved and I didn't know what to say as I don't know what is reasonable. A reorder before the end of the year plus the wrong car to drive until the right one comes or at least an A1 plus £1000 discount? What is reasonable, it is a genuine human error which I accept but both short and long term I am the only one who will suffer.

What is reasonable is you keep this car with no payments until a correct car can be built - the fact they are losing £100's if no £1000's per month the more you drive this car ought to get you the correct car ASAP.
Seriously, stop worrying about what is reasonable or not. Something lesser than my suggestion may have been acceptable if the dealer had stepped up and taken responsibly with a proper offer of compensation in the first place, but they've proved they aren't interested in doing right by their customer (and a high value one at that), so screw them for all you can.

But they could just tell me to bu**ar off and I have then lost the deal / discount I did have that's my worry and back to square one?

They won't - this is simple negotiation. Start with the maximum/best possible for you and work back.
You have a contract of sale with them, so they can't just get rid of you with and keep the car for them to sell on - they either have to supply the car as you ordered it, or come to an agreement for something different. The important bit is you have to agree to any change to the original contract (a.k.a a change to the spec or no longer selling you a car).

As I see it, the worst case, and I really don't see it happening, is they order a new car and refuse to give you a courtesy car in the mean time - or - they order a new car and have you pay for the compromised spec car in the mean time (but to do this they'd have to compensate you financially as it's not what you ordered).

Best case, and what they should easily agree to is you keep this wrong spec car while they build a new one (you don't pay a thing) - or - they put you in some other courtesy car while they build a new one. The former is better for you as they will obviously want to get a new car ASAP if you are in the highly expensive RS3 rather than a boggo A3 or A4 courtesy car (though you might be able to push for a nice courtesy car due to the type of vehicle you ordered).

Basically don't worry, stand firm, be polite, and make sure it's clear how inconvenienced you are with not having the car you ordered (sold another car to make way for it etc etc). It doesn't normally come to it, but the threat of social media can help as well.

I'd be inclined to say; Ill keep this until my new one arrives, and I want to up spec to " insert your spec" Audi Exclusive???

Have you escalated this yet to the guy I mentioned previously ? He deals with this kind of thing every day

Vinshal Irimpan
Executive Customer Relations Manager at Audi UK

Where do I find his contact details?

You make a complaint by telephone with Audi UK customer services, which I presume you have already....tell them youre not getting anywhere and you'd like to escalate it to him.

Is there any way of confirming with Audi the exact spec of car they have been given by the dealer?? I am just given the saved Audi configurator spec' and told that is what has been ordered.....listening to some of the horror stories on here I wondered if there was a was of checking before it's too late?!?

You should get an order form confirming everything although in my case it seems some of that didn't translate into my spec. so short of sitting with them in front of the computer and going through it all again I can't see there is a guarantee. Could you ring Audi UK with your order number and double check what is on their system maybe?

I always get them to send me the screenshots from the order system so I can see the option codes myself. They usually have to send 2/3 screenshots as the options box is really small on the bottom left and they have to scroll through 10 at a time.

Nope. Dealer is now claiming they can retrofit with no cost to me! That's the level I'm dealing with. No news from Audi UK

They are trying it on now...I wouldnt buy a car from them now whatever they do

Have you sold your car that you have now ?

Norman, if they could retrofit it, to your standard would you be happy? You've not given too much away, other that they colour scheme is incorrect - could you give us more details? Is it totally the wrong colour, wrong stitching? Wrong trims?

The reason that I ask, is that if they could retrofit it, would you be happy and still want the car? If not, you would need a really robust argument to go back to the dealer/Audi UK with.

I had a similar problem with my Jag; I wanted to reject the car, but to give them their due, they managed to retrofit the parts - and gave me £2000k compensation - that was on a £50K+ car. I'd forgotten about it within weeks.

Dont think 2k compo is on the cards !

I must admit that I took the compensation in the form of a 'trolley dash' from the accessories catalogue! including a full set of Melborne BBS Split Rim alloys + tyres.

It's the headliner I ordered black it has come with the light grey / white. I don't really want some technicians climbing around inside my car to take the old one out and fit the new one. They can do enough damage just doing the PDI what sort of damage might they do climbing around inside and pulling bits out? Also knowing my current luck it will result in some annoying rattles where the fixings haven't gone as well as the factory and be numerous returns to the dealership to fix. No compensation has been offered and the car hasn't been registered so there is no 'rejection' and probably why no compensation. Even if they offered compensation as well as changing it would need to be around the £2k mark but they just aren't going to offer that it is pretty obvious. They aren't even offering any for the reorder yet they could easily sell my wrong car for a good profit given the demand - maybe I should just take it and sell it myself? I have asked for a reorder and they are trying to see if they can negotiate a build slot with Audi UK. Apparently I have to wait 3 working days to hear from Audi UK but I suppose they need time to look into it.

I looked at two cars yesterday one with black and one with the white neither were RS3's but I really don't want the white particularly after spending £45k+ I just want what I ordered.

I have two very keen buyers for my current car but don't quite know what to do about that at the moment.

They'll probably hire Ed China in with a can of black satin to retrofit it. ;)

Just been offered an amazing deal to go to the dark side, about 15% discount and that was without even trying!

Norman, really sorry to hear what you have been through. It would be a shame if you went - but understandable

How is the M3 considered I know it's loved but considered a little bit looney? Dealer can put me in a brand new one built to my spec in September, Audi can't get me another RS3 until March / April next year? M3 is £20k deposit, £200 a month for two years and a final payment of £31k which works out not that much different to my RS3.

Road tax higher and mpg lower, rear wheel fun, factor in £3k for winter alloys and tyres, which can be kept in the BMW tyre hotel.

Take the RS3 I had the lighter headlining in my last S3 and it brightens up the cabin, look at it as a positive

Plus if you agree to take the car and stay with Audi they are more likely to give you some compo as a sweetner

How do residuals normally compare between the two I know the Mark 1 RS3 have been pretty good and the Mark 2 should be similar but what are M3's like do they drop like a stone?
