Ajs Avant

Cheers!!

Rotors are done. Gonna wait a good few days to let the clear fully harden before I get the tyres on, hopefully they'll survive without too much damage.

they look gorgeous mate. loving the interior too. kudos on paint spraying .... subtle yet brilliant!

Looking good man
What was needed for the dtm bumper. Any extra fixings or anything?

I remember thinking your car looked tidy enough when I came and bought those S4 carbon door trims off you, but now it looks fantastic. Top work!

Thanks mate, its kind of moved on quicker than I thought!!

Well a bizarre situation today.
Only 5 days after receiving my refund from my Paypal dispute for the carbon trims that I ordered in March I received a package from the states, guess what was inside??

Only downside, Its not the complete set.

It really does look awesome in the flesh, the bright red pings out beautifully from behind the deep carbon when the light catches it. Can't fault his work but his customer service is atrocious. Spoke to him today and he's going to invoice me again when the rests ready, god knows when that'll be!!!

well that is a right result mate... sort of. what parts are you missing? may still turn up you never know

Maybe worth waiting for , the best usually is.

Very true, My only concern was the deadline for claiming with Paypal was approaching and was concerned I'd lose my cash and have no trims. Happy to wait now as the cash is my bank waiting on him finishing them.

Look awsm

They are, just a pity I'm a crap photographer and can't capture the real quality and look of them.

One door trim, big dash trim, front ashtray and gear surround. Pretty sure they'll turn up as he'll be out of pocket at the moment for the ones he's done and posted. It's just a case of being patient now, he did mention he had some issues with them so I'm looking on bright side in that his quality control is good!!

are they fitted ? :О

Didn't really see the point until the rest turned up but after your post I thought why not, just one.
Gotta say these are something special, I really liked me home brew ones but these blow them away, seriously can't wait until the dash bits turn up!! Just a pity I still can't get a proper pic of them:-(

Found this short video of the same cloth, looks even better in real life

Have to say that looks :hubbahubba: stunning

if you decide not to use them i would could be interested

Finally bit the bullet and ordered new discs for the RS4s. Ordered Monday night and here this morning from the USA, awesome service!!

Went for 380mm mainly for aesthetics but for some practical reasons too, the kit came with new caliper bolts that I was missing, they are nearly 1kg lighter than the ML discs and lastly cost, inc the shipping about £100+ cheaper than stock 365mm RS4 discs.

Openly admit my car's probably the most(ridiculously) over braked car around but they'll look ace and I can have fun out braking folk.

New vs ML disc

Quick wee mock up

Are you ok with the noise grooved discs make , their higher brake dust generation and reduced pad life ?

The wheel colour will help tons with hiding the dust.

These are supposibly "whisper" quiet, time will tell. Don't do a lot of miles so pad life isn't a great concern and all my wheels are easy cleaners.

Obviously had the measurements before ordering but they seem huge in real life if that makes sense
Bigger the better. I would love some of them but the price tag scares the living day lights out of me as it would only be because I want them for looks.

Are those wheels the same colour as your OZ's? I must admit I wasn't keen on the hint of red on the wheels but now I've seen them on the car seems you have a good eye for these things.

It was pretty much "looks" that started this whole ball rolling, The Porsche brakes are excellent and for value for money unbeatable but the 345mm discs looked lost behind the OZs. The sale of them will take the majority of the sting out of the cost of the new discs, hopefully!!
No, they're a bit darker, not exactly sure what the name of the colour is. Bought it a while ago but had quite a bit left so thought I'd use it up and save some cash.
Funny thing is I'm actually going off the red on them but will wait until I see them tyred up and on the car. We'll see how the tyre fitting goes tomorrow as depending on damage I might have to repaint them anyway. Ideally wanted to paint after the tyres but as the lips were kerbed I wanted a good coat on the inside of the lip so painted first.

Yeah Porsche ones are good value just I can't get my head around having the word Porsche in large letters written on something that's bolted on to an Audi.

Myself I was considering getting a used standard set of carriers and calipers to send off to be smoothed and painted a bronze/chrome effect. Just can't decide if it's too "bling" tbh?

Buy the plain Q7 ones;-)

Personally not for me, I think it would be too blingy especially on a stock caliper. For stock brakes a proper well finished subtle paint job looks perfect to me.
I did think about the sleeper look when I did the Porsche ones. Big calipers and discs but finished discreetly look awesome too, a nice gloss black so you have to be close to realise there's something special behind the wheels.

It's not uncommon for an Audi to have Porsche parts, the RS2 had a few areas that were tagged with the Porsche wording

That's just plain laziness from audi then
Not really as it was built in collaboration with Porsche and used 968 brakes, mirrors and wheels, had a Porsche plinth at the back and also had a Porsche engraved inlet manifold

Wow I like them a lot. You're not going to like my opinion but I prefer them to the OZ's. Sorry about that!

I'm glad I'm not the only one.... I love them wheels on your car: they really set it off IMO.. I often see Rotors on B7's and they're always a bit hit and miss for me; they often seem a little mis-placed. However, your's pulls them off so sympathetically-they really suit each other. Looks like a win to me!

Your partner must be so understanding, I've been allowed to tidy the bodywork up on mine and thats it: whats your secret??!!

I really like them but the OZs are still my favs. At normal driving height the OZs still look great but with these the car has to be quite low to look as great.

Honestly used to hate rotors until I saw a silver avant lowered with the S5 ones from the States, finding a cheap genuine set took a while.

I tend to switch off to the nagging now plus we have wee agreement that we can treat ourselves from our own overtime at work, my job dictates I have to do quite few hours of O/T so it's a win win for me.

This was the car that started me thinking about rotors,

Hmmm, SILVER Avant on rotors hey:grimacing:

im torn between these and another set I previously talked to you about. No problem as I've got until my April 2016 bonus to make my mind up:cry:

I'd love a set of Rotors, especially in an anthracite or similar, but I'm not even allowed to lower this car so it'd look stupid! I work in a school so no-chance for overtime for me!

The Rotors on the silver Avant look really nice, but again, they don't quite hit the spot for me: yours pulls them off nicely (I think the colour combo really helps). Thats not to say they don't look nice though...

I think I remember your Anni from UkMkiv's you know, I only saw it as I ended up in your Photobucket album: I believe you commented on my build thread a couple of times as I had a Tornado Red Mk4 too... Anyway, I digress.

I know the Rotors aren't keepers but they look awesome...

Looks braw mate - gonna be by far the best looking 'winter' car going haha!!

Carbon trims look the business! I'd love to commit to a set, but the list of stuff I've got on 'the list' is just crippling me at the moment - everything I need now is at the pricy end of the scale!!

Out of interest - how much is going to be in your Porsche setup when you come to sell?

Thats right, small world!! I had it for 5 yrs trouble free motoring, one of the best cars I've owned. That was the main reason I went for the 1.9 A4 and avoiding the 2.0 as I knew the 1.9 is a great engine.

Use the same guy I did, put a pound away a week and by the time he's done them you'll have enough!!

I've got one more "project" for it in the pipeline then I'll be done, need to start saving for boring things like a clutch etc!!

Not sure if I'm going to refurb them yet as the paints a bit tired on them but as they stand I'm thinking about £550 for the full kit.

Are you running the 6 pot brembo brakes at the moment? I would be very interested in taking them off your hands when you come to sell them. Providing you haven't promised them to anyone else ☺ cheers
