I know a few people have had these springs fitted and i have seen pics via google etc but i couldn't find anything to suggest the handling was improved over standard. I know the ride is unsettled when pressing on down bumpy country lanes etc but i was thinking of fitting one of the above springs and a set of H&R arb's. I just wanted to know if this was a good plan or if i was just better with say a set of kw v1 coilovers, i don't want to spend a fortune really.

thanks for any input

I've literally just come off the phone with Awesome GTI. They are supplying me with B8 shocks, with H&R springs 25mm for £770 fitted and laser alignment test. Delivery is 3-4 weeks. Having done a spring only job on my previous TT I can thoroughly recommend changing dampers too to match the springs. If you like the way your OEM set up feels, but want it lower and reduce that lollopy feeling then go the whole hog.

Thanks for the reply. I'm honestly not a massive fan of the set up on the S3, i know its basically a mature hot hatch but coming Evo's, Type R's etc its too soft for my liking, even the 2 8P S3's (pre facelift/facelift) felt stiffer.

The 8P was stiffer but definitely not better - the two aren't necessarily related!
I fitted the Pro-Kit to my 8P S3 - just front springs in that - made a world of difference. I might do it again on this one although so far no real complaints.
Mine's brand new and I wouldn't have any issue with fitting springs to the factory dampers - yes there's a lot to be said for switching shocks as well but only on older cars - new ones (like I had on the 8P) coped fine.

I am sure V8 and a few other members on this forum, would strongly suggest that different front and rear shocks might be a good idea !

and naughts4187, looking forward too hearing how the B8 shocks go.

Maybe so, but the combination worked well for me on the last car. Standard shocks on low mileage will cope fine with the mild drop of Eibach springs. In fact (and I know the 8P had different handling issues to be addressed) the shorter springs actually helped the dampers cope better as on the standard springs they do the opposite of "bottoming out" when rebounding.

Would like to know how B8 shocks are with H&R springs... thinking about this setup for my A3.

How did you get on with these? Would you recommend this setup?

Eibach sportlines with standard mag ride shocks here - feels much more planted and now actually feel connected to the road.
