What have you done to your 8V today?

DTUK box and VW R600 fitted, not sure itf its just me but swear my exhaust sounds quieter now

Yer, only way to keep the edges from pulling back on a hot day, well unless you have a heat gun or hairdryer which can heat to 80/90c in order to make the vinyl loose its "memory" when then wrap is completed. Taking the cap off is also the only way to neatly wrap inside the top channel also.

  1. Remove glass - Tilt so you can get your fingers behind the outside and top edges and slowly pull towards you applying even pressure so as to not crack the glass. If heated glass then there are x2 wires just behind the outside edge. I let the glass hanging on these.
  2. Undo mirror motor and let hang.
  3. Undo the three visible screws. These secure the glass surround.
  4. Unclip the glass surround. You should see holes on both the top and bottom which you can get a flat screwdriver in to.
  5. You should then be able to see the two plastic clips which hold the mirror cap in place, at the top. Press these up with your thumbs and slid the cap towards the front of the car.

Or you can pop it off from the outside, without taking the glass out, that's how I did mine.
Just insert a card at the bottom of the mirror cap and pop the cover up.

very nice :) much nicer than the carbon look which I think is getting a bit dated

Also the way you need to pull and stretch the vinyl to cover the 8V mirrors deforms the carbon pattern. The top curved face of the mirror looks normal as this is the main anchor / starting point, but the lower front facing section and the side end up with the pattern being curved like a rainbow.
 
Today I picked my car up after being repaired! Dropped the grey loaner off too. I missed it!!

Yes that was mine for 3 weeks, if it wasn't so poverty specked I'd of had more fun but I was starting to like the colour, pops really well in the sun.

So today I woke up feeling poorly and cannot do any work, oh maybe I'll go for a long drive shhhhhhhh!

Sick of getting sun burned in the car so got some tints installed, also removed the plastidip :)

Gave it a post Scotland and a pre Cornwall clean inside and out :) I'm hoping that the Cornish roads are better than some of the full of potholes dirt tracks that we found whilst in Scotland lol :D

Spent 4hrs cleaning both and hoovering etc.. absolutely roasting and still not done everything i wanted to do.. now i cba and wished i only had 1 car.. haha

Haha it looks like I've just emptied a 4 litre bottle of milk over it. Didn't have much snow foam left so that's the result.

Fitted a rear camera to it.

I didn't want to spend a fortune as I've got one in the front with GPS/Speed warnings etc. so I went for a Transcend DrivePro 200 for £76. The reason I decided to cover my **** was down to a woman the other week, we were in slow moving traffic and each time we moved forward she would also move, but rather than watching to see when I stopped she was looking down texting!!! I was waiting for her to hit me, luckily she didn't :)

Anyway rather than fit it on the glass and have the hassle of which way to run the wires, the camera fits nice and snug between the headrest and roof liner which is handy, the wire drops down behind the parcel shelf and into the boot. I also covered all the silver and white bits on the camera with black matt sticky tape to hide it better:

Video quality is OK @ 1.35 you see number plates are nice and sharp. I know it's not the normal angle for a camera, but it captures what you would need if anyone were to run up your rear.

Yeah, between the passenger side (rear) headrest and the roof liner...no worrying about wires getting trapped in the boot then. 99.9% of the time there is nobody in the back, so it should be OK!!!

Have you tried playing back a recording over the wifi onto your phone? I tried it and there isn't any sound when it plays back! the sound works OK over the PC or playing direct from the cam though.

Yeah just lowered the headrest, put it on top and then raised the headrest again...nice and secure :) Power comes from the 12v in the boot on the left side behind the net...tell me you know there is one there!!! :D

I went over a few speed ramps to see if it moved and it didn't!

Oh I know it's there but never used it, it's covered by a pack of wipes to keep my pipes clean. Trying think where the wire would run up inside the car.

Not sure how keen I am on jamming it in the rear

Over the net, along the side and then up between the plastic ledge that holds the rear shelf and the back of the seat. It was the only way I could see past the hassle of risking jamming the power cable in the boot each time it is closed. Worst case there will be a slight indent in the headrest when I remove the camera...but when I remove it will be when I sell the car back to Audi! Over time the shape will come back into the headrest anyway.

I'll check it out and then as may get rear camera as well, not sure where I would mount though as I do like my rear headrests down.
 
Took my s3 to inters today good day out & some very fast audis going down the 1/4 mile :)

Fast exterior wash / clean. Tested a bit of IronX for the first time... amazing stuff! Then changed the wrap on my spoiler from gloss carbon to gloss black in order to match mirrors and roof. Think I am gonna stick with this combo now.

Nice quattro decals, I was going to put some there but on the HB the side skirts curve down at the end.

Noticed that when I was searching around for pictures of cars with the decals applied. Liked the look of decals on the doors for the 3dr and the SB models but think the decals look better on the skirts for the saloon. Easier to line up / get straight also. Decals were £5 from eBay :)
 
I left it in the garage as it's clean and it was going to rain.
And we went out in my wifes car instead.
