Hi guys i posted this in the new members section but probably should of posted it here!

i'm new to the forum after reading many DIY's and threads i decided it was about time i registered and introduced myself and wondered if some one could help and offer me some advice..

I recently bought my B6 2.5TDI Quattro a few months ago and have had a persistent problem with my central locking ever since i bought it where nothing happens from the remote control.. initially thought that maybe it was the battery in the remote and so changed that over and yet still nothing?..

i tried re-syncing the key with the car but no luck, the car opens by the drivers door manually and wont open the remaining doors until the ignition is switched to on, i only have the one fob key and have a spare normal key. I tried to get another fob cut but while trying to sync the key it was discovered that someone had been playing around on vagcom (previous owner as i haven't a clue!) and they had disabled the alarm system and i believe disconnected it as well, so the system would not allow me to add another key.

i had this looked further into and they believed that maybe from someone playing around with the system and not knowing what they were doing the car constantly thinks something is wrong with its alarm system (and rightly so!) The person who looked into this for me (a close family friend) believes that it may be down to my comfort control module and replacing this should resolve my issues, i wonder if anyone is around in the Berkshire area for a second opinion? and/or any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

if it also helps when locking the car the red blinking light on the drivers door only flashes and not the one in the centre of the dashboard. I have also had the signal checked in the remote & from the receiver and both are transmitting but from where someone messed around with the settings, central locking no longer works.

does anyone have any previous experience with a similar problem? or knows if it is the comfort control module thats likely at fault? don't wanna fork out for a new/second hand one and be in the same position..

Many Thanks!

Carl

Sounds like someone has messed with transport mode , you will need vcds, where abouts are you

Hi Ovid i live in the Berkshire area in Maidenhead, do you think that would be the cause then? as i say apparently the alarm was disabled and perhaps disconnected.. we came to the conclusion that perhaps the alarm was too sensitive and would sound very often in the night or so and thats why it was disabled, but... nobody knows! people messing with stuff they don't know! lol

I don't think there is one in the centre of the dashboard.
We could do with some VCDS read outs really, to see what is currently coded in.

Hi BlackQuat, thanks for the reply, do you know of anyone around my area that could do a readout for me for some beer tokens? or are you located nearby? Also if its any help, when inside the car the door lock buttons on the drivers door do not work aswell.

Have you checked the wiring in the rubber boot going to the door?

Hi leegsi , Well the rubber boot on the drivers door hasn't been attached on the door side properly since i bought it, is there anything i should be looking for? i think somewhere along the line looking at the MOT records the drivers window wasn't working properly and got fixed before i bought the car as it has been fine for me, do you think maybe something would be disconnected or wires got damp or something?

Hi Carl welcome to the forum I am from Maidenhead also.:)

Hi Carl,
I'm not near you sadly. I'm up in North Yorkshire.

The above link will give you a map of people in the country who can help.
But it does sound like broken wires in the door hinge area.

If you're fairly mechanically minded, pull all the door card off and pull the loom through so you can work it on a table. I did this on all my doors and all 4 doors had either broken or corroded wiring.

Hi BlackQuat thank you for your advice! much appreciated!, i just had a quick look at my wires and they all seem to appear untouched.. mind you i will at some point perhaps tomorrow pull it all out and assess it properly but on initial assessment the loom seems ok, which annoys me as its still not the cause! lol but like you said it would definitely be worth getting someone to run a VCDS check for me, so i will let you know!

And Hi mubzy! many thanks for the welcome too! hope you haven't had any similar problems?!

I have had my fair share of problems with my car this month but nothing like the problem your having

Vcds tell u whats a problem to that. Coz its can be wires in the doors. Or water in control module. Or disabled central lock. Or alarm sirwn in thw boot and etc.......etc... Vcds first shot and cuts half of the possibilities to the problem.....

Hey Martynas yeh hopefully Chets can help me out as he's the most local vcds user to me, I checked the rubber boot in the door and the wires are fine and apparently my control module is bone dry, I think from what I was told last time someone checked it for me that the alarm had been disconnected and that someone had messed around on vcds with a lot of settings so hopefully it's a straight forward reset of the values and re arming the system properly. And that I don't need a new control module! (Fingers crossed!)

Will keep you all updated as it goes along tho

And thanks all for your inputs!

Sorry my profile doesn't notify of posting, I have VCDS in High Wycombe and happy to help scan and take a look at the coding to see whats happened

I'm waiting for the rain to ease off then I'm taking the CCM out. I've got issues with not going into snooze mode when locked.
